What was your biggest flathead (catfish) this summer? My haul was a 30 pounder. Two 20 pounders and about 15 ranging from 4-16 pounds. All caught on live bluegill. Except 1, caught a 16 pounder on a big shad head.

My buddy and I caught 40+ flatheads this year. Best year we've ever had in terms of number of fish caught. 30, 29, 29, 28, 24, 20, 20. Was our biggest. No "monsters". But we had a lot of fun at the river.

I got screwed by weather and work this summer......only catfished one time taking a buddy from work and his kid.
No flatties but a couple *almost* decent blues that day, biggest was around 30.
Normally I'm catfishing every week when there isnt a hurricane blowing thru every time I'm off, weather screwed me over for bowfishing worse than catfishing.
Like you I release all the big catfish, if someone wants eaters I'll put them on some 5-10lb channels and leave the blues and flatheads in the lake, I hate to see a 35-60lb fish dead......now carp are a different story tho......good for nothing fish bed destroyers.....

With the shop I work for "limiting contact" by having us on a week off a week for a few months this spring I was able to fish more than I have in a few years......caught tons of small (5-20lb) fish, a bunch of pretty nice ones (20-35) and this one that hit a 2" threadfin shad at 1 in the afternoon, she weighed 46lbs, caught her on a medium spinning rod with 15lb line on it.
