You make it sound like the cop's rights were violated because he was treated like a criminal.

Are you saying his rights were viloated because he wasn't read his rights before she pointed a gun at him and cuffed him? </div></div>

Nuff said! Right about there is where you lose all creditability. That statement is the equivalent of somebody giving their expert opinion on some weapon system that they used in Call of Duty 3. </div></div>

Do you mirandize everyone after you chase them down before you get them out of the car or put them in handcuffs?

Re: Florida Trooper Arrests Miami Cop for Speeding

Im sorry but she was in my opinion justified in her actions, and I think all that say she is a cunt, or abusing her power well you are totally off base here, In the dash cam he is speeding, driving erattic, and clearly failing to stop for a blue light, which constitutes at least in SC a ride to the county detention center. For all she knew the car was stolen, heck he could have went home while on duty and walked in on his wife and her lover doing the nasty and killed them both and was fleeing the scene, but regardless he was the one totally in the wrong, not her she did what she was suppose to do and I commend her for it.
I dont know about other states but in the state of SC if the violation carries a fine or Jail you can be arrested and transported for said violation, be it speeding, DUI, DUS or whatever.
Now before some start flaming me I am a Retired SC State Trooper so I do have a little bit of knowledge on the matter.
But that does not mean I would have handled it the same as she did, I would have probably put him in cuffs for my and his protection, called my supervisor and his dept. and once we figured out what was going on and that what he was telling me was the truth, I would probably have issued him at a minimum a speeding ticket, and possibly one for failure to stop for a blue light and let him plead his case to the judge.

In Florida according to an FHP Trooper I know (with 19 years experience), he was clearly fleeing and eluding, 3rd degree felony.

According to the statute's I posted earlier, upon conviction there is a 3 year minimum mandatory sentence.

Speeding 50 MPH over, that is a $1,000 minimum fine.

He said there are other charges that could be tacked on as well.

The Miami Police officer did not have his rights violated and he is very lucky to have only been cited with reckless driving.

Who is right or wrong is above my pay grade but all the other cars in the video are the victims of the actions.

At least another tragedy was prevented.</div></div>

^^^ That is the most important statement so far. Doesn't matter who was right or wrong, the action was stopped so that someone didn't get hurt due to said action.

Re: Florida Trooper Arrests Miami Cop for Speeding

We get into these threads, with people 'bashing' cops. It really is pretty simple.

Cops want respect? Act in a respectable manner. No old boy network and covering up crimes under the guise of professional courtesy. The rules that apply to everyone else apply to you too. If I don't get off for doing 100 mph plus because I'm late fore work, then a cop should not either.

If the cops are squeaky clean, how can people not respect them? If cops are crooked or have a double standard, why would anyone respect them?

Suitable for framing!

You've lost it.

Dashcams are admissable as EVIDENCE. Hence they are fit for a jury to view and deliberate on. Juries made up of ordinary people - you know, taxpayers. So whereas the rest of the entire American justice system deems it appropriate to view and derive judgement from dashcams, you think they're all playing video games.

The only reason why the point made by bgbill is not valid is because he refuses to read and acknowledge what Fargo007 said "police cars are given the presumption of not being stolen if they are observed to be speeding" paraphrased. Hence why Fargo007 went on to say that the arresting officer should have mirandized the speeder upon learning that he was indeed an officer and the car was not stolen. Her failure to follow due process is what has resulted in the lesser charges being brought to the offending officer - and ironically, the charge of reckless driving is provable only because of the dashcam and because that was evidence that was captured before the arresting officer fucked up the rest of the arrest.

I don't know how long you've been a police officer but you're so far gone (as suggested by your posts) that you think you live and work in Narnia or a different time/space continuum where only you and your ilk know what's going on. You're wrong, you just don't know it or won't accept it and that's part of the problem.
