Hi, I have been with my girl now for going on 8 months, and as the title states, she is of another country. I fully intend on marrying her, but both of us have some real fears and concerns. There are a few, but one of the main ones is getting her able to work here. She is a psychologist in her country, and while I know she cannot just come over here and start psych clinic, there has to be a way to get her up to speed whether it be equivalencies or some schooling. Has anyone here married a foreign girl and had them able to continue a professional life here?

One of my co-workers married a chick over in Cuba last year. Waiting list for approval of citizenship for a non-resident spouse or something like that is 14-19 months, then the next step is actually getting the documents which is another year or two.
Something to keep in mind. Apparently, before Trump it was 3-6 months for citizenship application approval.
Never heard of a marriage working between an American and a girl from Brazil or Russia. I have been told that the ones available for romance with Americans are 100% merc.

I do believe that your first step is to understand the rules and regulations regarding her ability to practice here. The American Psychologist Association will help you there. She will likely have to take some degree of coursework and practicals.

Wow, total "Francis." Lighten up, OP. You're lucky nobody mentioned pimping. Now, unless she can take classwork to make up for any comparative deficiencies, and pass a board exam, you're a bit stuck. As was said, call your state board of professional licensing and see what's up. These things aren't usually solved easily, and many times one or both halves of the couple have to settle for a little less. Many years ago, I was contemplating the same situation with someone who was finishing up law school overseas. Good luck.
And I agree, but historically, I haven't been very resourceful, so I figured I would ask here. I've seen guys ask plenty of shit unrelated to guns on here involving advice with life issues, and there have been plenty of responses. It may be worth the coin to speak with an Immigration Attorney. Going from B1/B2 to LPR practicing Psych may take some time..... but I'm sure it's been done thousands of times before. An immigration attorney can give you some realistic expectations of what's ahead.

Not too sure about that estimate being based on who is in office. Had a buddy bring back his girlfriend/wife from Mexico (half his family still lives there, and met his wife through family connections). Married her in Mexico, and then came here and then "officially" married her here. At any rate, it was a year long process (and this was during Obama's administration) and then some. I think the hardest part for her, was that once she came here (and I don't fully understand why) she couldn't leave the US to visit family back in Mexico, until her paperwork cleared. Being a closely knit family (and a slightly spoiled daughter of a wealthy Mexican family), it was pretty rough on her, and therefore on him.
I will tell you this, it gave the young man (and his wife) a whole new respect for having to follow the legal process, and a whole new level of disgust for those that immigrate illegally, It was interesting, seeing his views change on immigration, just from having to deal with getting his wife's legal citizenship.

That's what a lot of people think about attorneys.... right up till they really need one... then you want the one who will do whatever it takes for you, with no qualms attached.
All jokes aside, her contacting the appropriate state boards would be the first step. Many are lenient on their licensure requirements so long as her education and post-doctoral residency work are similar to their requirements, but the licensure approval process will likely be lengthy, especially if her doctorate is with an institution that is not yet reviewed. Yeah, like I said I'm not all that well versed in it, but the way he was explaining it it was a multi-step process.
Step 1 was the application for citizenship which used to take 3-6 months to get approved
Step 2 was the obtaining citizenship process which involves FBI investigation and some other stuff which was another 6 months or more.
Step 3 was getting here from Cuba which has it's own stuff.
After Trump step 1 was at least a year and some change out, and step 2 was projected to be about as long.
