Suppressors Form 4 wait time

I’m assuming you would have to use a dealer to transfer from individual to a trust. I doubt many dealers are going to do that for free. $50-$100 seems like the going rate. So $250-$300 to get it quicker. If you get it quicker.

You don’t have to use a dealer. You are already the owner of the NFA item. Form 4 to Form 4 transfer doesn’t require a dealer, just a complete resubmission of a new Form 4 for the Trust to the ATF and another $200 check. Form 3 to Form 4 requires a dealer.

Sounds like a waste of time and $200. If your that crazy impatient for some particular can then get it on an individual form and leave it out of your trust. All the rest of your shit will be in there and just that one would be individually owned, who cares

If you're a hunter, getting a can 9 months sooner could mean another season or 2. I was hoping to have mine by October, this year but wasn't banking on it. Now I've got it for spring bear and fall season. I'd have paid $200 for that without a thought.

Ya that’s exactly what I’m saying, get one under an individual and just leave it that way if you want it faster. Who cares if one of your several in most of our cases isn’t in a trust. Maybe it matters but I don’t really see how.

It just matters when you die (I think).

Or if your brother wants to borrow your suppressor. If he’s on the trust as a trustee (or whatever the correct lingo is) he can.

I believe, but cannot confirm 100%, if your brother borrows your “individual“ can and gets caught, JFC the shit is gonna hit the fan.

Sure I completely understand the reasoning why we have that stuff in a trust myself included. If you were just hell bent on a can right now where individuals are supposedly getting approved in a week then do just that one. Trustees can use the other ones you have in the trust or go get there own right now. And if you die well that one $800 give or take can can get scrapped. At that point oh well. Just my thoughts not that they matter. For me I’m pulling the trigger on two more da cans this week just can’t decide on the second one. However God blessed me with patience so like all the others before I’ll get them when I get them.

Easy, I own 10 cans and have my dad and brother on all them, at some point all of them have traded hands at to be used by someone other than the “intended owner”. Since we are using many of the same cans snagging the wrong one off the table when you are packing can be the difference between no problem or a 10 year prison term.

Additionally it’s not like it’s an insignificant amount of time difference, in some cases individuals are getting approved in a day or two while trusts are taking over a year. Since my next suppressors will be for hunting that is the difference between hunting with them this season or having to wait until the following year.

If it was only a 4 or 5 month wait it wouldn’t be an issue but that 8 months to 1 year vs a few days or weeks is the sticking point.

Telling me easy isn’t necessary as I was never fired up. Just giving a different route for all the folks wanting one this week. All of our situations are different including yours.

That wasn’t easy as in “hold up, your a bit fired up” that was easy as “I can easily explain”.

If I was going for the former meaning I would have went for the ol’ “Easy there Mister, we’re all friends here”

This is exactly what I did for my Hybrid 46.. which got approved in 3 days.
All my other cans are in a trust.

I was under the impression a relative could acquire it with a Form 5 after I kick off

If so does a SOT have to hold on to it until approved?

And if so who would take it there?

I need to get this shit straight as I have two on individual and want them to go to my boys

I have Form 5s premade for all my suppressors. I used the fillable PDF, emailed them to my beneficiary and told him not to lose them and back them up because it will be a royal PITA to fill them in from scratch after I am gone.

My beneficiary is also the executor.

I asked the ATF about the transfer on my death. I was told that they just have to remain in a secure place. The beneficiary provides the Form 5s, two fingerprint cards and two passport photos per suppressor.

As far as the secure place goes, it is my house. I told the beneficiary not to take them out until he gets the approved Form 5s back.

The ATF representative said, "You would be surprised how easy it is."

I told my friend that he has no room to bitch about the paperwork because he's getting free suppressors with guns attached and doesn't have to pay for a tax stamp.

Come to think of it, he ought to give me a little money to use while I am alive, to help pay for my funeral.

Perfect, that's how I understood it and I printed off two form 5's but will look into the fillable PDFs.
Glad to know they can just stay in one of the safes
Don't plan on going too soon but would like to have paperwork in place at least, so it's one less worry

Has SilencerShop been taking an extra long time to process review/eforms for anyone else lately? Well over a week for my latest after it had arrived at my shop. That combined with 2+ hour waits on hold just to confirm I had everything submitted properly.

When the ATF is processing complete approvals on eforms quicker than SS can even get 2 pages of paperwork to docusign, that’s an issue. My last form 1 I had the paperwork myself done in an afternoon…may just go that route in the future.

I'm on a traditional trust. My last form 1 was ready to sign the next day and ready to certify the day after that. I had to wait 2 days to certify because that was when the eform site was down at the end of Feb.

I'd guess the delay is from being on a SS trust and new paperwork generated every time.

I have a trust, this one is on an individual…needed a quick turn at the ATF due to a move in 3 months…outside of trust approval times…so I’d have to roll the dice and cancel if not approved before the move then reapply again. So went individual and I’ll debate assigning it to my trust after I have possession

Won’t be using SS again though, I can do a better job, faster, on my own paperwork and they don’t offer a mil or fed discount. Their poor customer service lost them my business in the future.

Certified 12/11/23 --> Approved 3/13/24 @ 8:12AM (Pacific standard) --> 3 months 2 days (this is probably on the faster side)

Individual: Silencerco Scythe
Certified 3/7/24--> Approved 3/13/24 @ 11:11AM --> 6 calendar days.... not unusual nowadays.

Silencer shop times for individual filing is now a median of 4 days... I believe it. Do NOT believe the ATF and the ASA website times, they aren't correct or accurate to what is going on currently. Those dates of approval maybe correct when averaged over a full years of data, that I believe. But I believe the silencer shop times are more accurate and that's based on a rolling time of 7 days. Capitol Armory's Approval times aren't even correctly posted obviously. I'm not the only person getting these fast quickly. It's not a rumor, it's not some government scheme, it's just happening and it's never been like this before. Now is the time to buy.

I felt the same way when I was waiting for my trust to approve, then said, "what the heck, let's just give the individual approval a try" :D If you have something on your wish list, I say grab it up! With elections coming up, could be shortages a head of firearms related items

I filed 2 form 4s on 1/31/24 individual
Haven't heard anything yet.
But it was my first and I had just moved from a communist country (California) to free America so I'm sure they will take their sweet time.

Oh... I am going to piss you off then! :LOL: Submitted a Form 1 on 03/01 and after seeing all the 2 to 7 day approvals I e-mailed NICS liason and was told to fuck off and stop e-mailing them (In nicer language but par for the course) so I hit the "other" e-mail and explained that I had screwed up a form, withdrawn, and resubmitted all in an hour and could it be problem having 2 forms in the system with the same serial # anf how could I help if it was. This was at 2:22 P.M. today. At 2:29 P.M. I was approved! Followed at 2:30 P.M. by a very nice e-mail that said that wasn't the issue, it was a NICS problem but they re-submitted the back ground check and my form was approved. This all happened in SEVEN, yes SEVEN minutes! I can't get my head around it but I am tickled pink! Full disclosure it was really 12 days but talk about things that make you go "Hmmmm."
