Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Called yesterday for the first time.
Had to make a correction to the form 4 10 or so days ago so figured I would call with the excuse of making sure the corrections came back ok.
3 suppressor on SiCo Easy Trust for 2 RPs
Submitted 10/18/17
Check Cashed 10/26/17
Approved all 3 on 5/5/18

Now like Frank the wait for the stamps begins. But atleast I am this far now. :)

Just an update, tax stamps came in on 5/11. Picked them up and already have some rounds through the suppressors now. ;)

Had 6 sets all go in the same time from a SiCo kiosk. All 6 checks cashed 11/17/17, all six forms approved 5/16/18. Just waiting on the mailman now

I did 2 at the same time through the silencershop kiosk with the checks being cashed on 11/19/17 so hopefully mine are close (if not approved already, i had called last week and they were "pending").

Now its time for mine
Single Shot Trust Form 4
Check Cashed 10/7/17
Approved 4/17/18
Stamp Received 5/31/18

44 days from approval to stamp at my dealer...

Why we trust individuals who cannot muster up enough effort to put a letter in outgoing mail box, with the security of ATF-regulated items is beyond me.

Finally. Just got the call. Yes, that does read March 29th, 2017. Hair over 14 months.

Form 4 trust. (NFA lawyers trust with amendment removing trustees leaving myself as originator. Noted this just in case that causes delays.)
Mailed 03/29/2017
Check cashed 04/13/2017
Approval: 05/08/2018
Received: 06/04/2018

edit* added approval date. 4 weeks to get the stamp to my FFL after approval.

My paperwork reached the ATF 08/07/2017. I had to amend my Form 4 due to an error on my part. So, I corrected my error & then the ATF said that they didn’t have an RPQ on file. My SOT dealer & I sent the RPQ back two more times. I called the ATF & the approving official said that he never received anything from me or my dealer. Finally, the ATF calls me back & says “Found it!” So, an extra 4-5 weeks later & I picked up my can 06/01/2017. It was still less than the 10 - 12 months I was initially quoted.

Last one we saw the check cleared 12/12. We got the customer's form in our hand on 6/15. We have a kiosk and encourage everyone to do the Single Shot Trust. It seems like our people, on average, are getting their approvals faster than most.

One small bit of info: realized the ATF Check Cashed date is more important than when you bought it. Many people assume the purchase date, or even the date on the form 4, is what matters. In many cases Silencer Shop doesn't mail the form the day you sign it. Sometimes it seems like it's almost a month from the time we order until the time the check is cashed with much of that being the delay for SShop to review and send. The Check Date is basically like proof of delivery and that starts the clock. In fact, the ATF (per my discussion yesterday) won't even see the form 4 in their system for almost 2 months after they get the payment. We're waiting on two machine gun transfers (we bought from a customer) and while the check cleared mid May, they don't see the form yet.

Another behind the scenes piece of advice: if you have a dealer you like, have them do the purchase for you from SShop. It is transparent to you, but it's better for your dealer in many cases. The first 15 we did this year we did from our in house computer but logged on to their site to purchase. SShop told us they assumed they generated the sales. Lesson learned. Our customers would have actually paid a bit less in our store (lower sales tax) and we would have been treated more favorably by Silencer Shop on the fees they charge us to do paperwork. So, if you have a relationship with your dealer, help them out and buy from them (unless they don't care either way). We also give cash discounts and you cannot pay cash online so discuss that with your dealer too.

I've had a few corrections and the ATF has been exceptionally helpful. In many cases I've been able to email the corrections to them. If you have an issue like that again, ask your dealer if he can resolve it by email. Most of my corrections result in stamps about two weeks later. In one case, I had to educate the ATF on Texas Law and "change of registered agent" from 15 years ago..and that they didn't need an RPQ. No biggie. Just emailed a letter to them explaining it. In a few cases, Silencer Shop (using the Powered By feature) messed something up (trust titles, serial numbers, etc) but they, too, were quick to respond and fix the issue. Stamps usually arrived 2-4 weeks later. The ironic good news is that if you're getting calls on errors, that means you're up! The wait is almost over! If it takes 6 months to get a stamp, 5 months is just the waiting in line to have your name called.

One funny story was when a guy had three people on the trust but only his RPQ. ATF said "need two more RPQs". Silencer Shop should have caught the extra people in my opinion. But he send some kind of amendment that basically said "This amendment removes all the trustees except me until the current application is approved at which time this amendment is void and the trust reverts to the original form." Clever. The ATF wasn't amused. THe agent said, "we've seen that before and, well, that's not going to work." But then she advised, "Just have him take the people off formally and then he can add them back on later. That's the better way to do it." So they're actually trying to be helpful. He resubmitted it...and we had his stamp shortly thereafter.

a friend and his stepdad bought Lane Scorpion suppressors on 11/27/17; on Form 4 Trust (with 3 RP's) and e-filed; stamp approved on 6/18/18. So just short of 7 months. I filed paperwork for my suppressor 2 weeks later, so hopefully my stamp arrives soon, too.

Pretty quick: Ordered 11/30; Form 4 signed (Single Shot trust; Powered By/Silencer Shop) 12/4; check cashed 12/12; approved Jun 19; postmarked Jun 21; received today 6/25. Times seem to be slowly coming down.

I've heard that as ATF sees more barcoded forms the times will continue to come down. We do all our deals using our Silencer Shop backoffice so all ours are barcoded. I think as more people use the barcoding (which you can do even outside of Silencer Shop), it'll expedite the process for everyone.

WELL.............we ( our store ) just got a stamp back Saturday from MARCH 17, 2017 !!!!!!! On an Individual !! I had to check it several times to make sure it was actually processed on March 17, 2017. It was.

WTF is up with that ( no corrections, no questions, nothing ) ?? Never have seen an individual go that long.

Now I can't get a hold of the customer. Phone # has changed. Dang !!

I'm still waiting for one from about the same time. Individual.

Check was cashed of the last stamp I’ve applied for on 11/17/17 as well, hopefully it’ll be approved soon. Form 4 on a trust with 2 responsible persons, initiated through a silencer shop kiosk.

January 16 check cashed. Dealer was notified of issue with my form 4 today. Apparently my form was duplicated and there were 2. I promise I did not duplicate my $200 check so it was definitely a mistake on their end.

Griffin Recce 7, Dead Air Mask, Rugged Oculus form 4 individual
Form 4 mailed on barcode: 7 Nov 17 (Recce7 and Oculus) and 15 Dec 17 (DA Mask)
Pending date: 7 Dec 17 (Recce 7 and Oculus) and 2 Jan 17 (DA Mask)
Approved Form 4: 9 July 18 (all three by same examiner)
Received at SOT: 13 July 18

Thunder Beast Ultra-9
Form 4 Trust with barcode submitted on 9/16/17
Check cashed on 10/12/17
ATF got back to the dealer on 6/22/18 for a correction in the paperwork
Received the tax stamp on 7/19/18

Functionally, the point at which they asked for the correction would be the correct wait time but I had to wait an extra month because of that.
