Suppressors Form 4 wait time

No super fast treatment for me. I guess it still beats the 11 month wait from just a few years ago.

Capitol Armory, Griffin Armament ship-to-your-door deal:

Form 4 individual
Submitted 10/22/24
Approved 1/27/25 (98 days)
UPS delivered/in-hand 2/21/25 (26 extra days for Capitol Armory BS)
Total wait time: 124 days (4 months)

2 Individual eForm 4’s…both through a Silencer Shop kiosk.

First Form submitted 01/16/2025
Second Form submitted 01/31/2025

Both approved today...the second form hit at 1039, the first form at 1331…both cans in hand and I’m happy.

Anyone looking for estimated time waits, on the /NFA Reddit there is a sticky with a template. People fill out the template and it allows the spreadsheet that they have to be updated and give you estimated approval times based on criteria such as Form 4 individual, Form 4 Trust, etc and they break it down to last 30 days, last 90, and more. It’s a pretty good database.

The template for average times is stickied in this thread.

System is starting to act wonky. Purchased suppressor from silencershop 2-23, hadn’t seen the form 3 approval and shipping info as of today. Logged on and they had a screen pop up about eforms being strange and possibly not accepting your certification and to double check it once submitted.

I had two submitted this morning. Trust with me and my son, hopefully it’s a quick approval but it’s got to be better than my previous two which were about 10 or 11 months a couple of years ago.

I just had one approved in 16 hours.
16 hours! This is what @joe777 looks like in real life!

PTR Vent 3 form 4 submitted electronically on 2/26/25 on a single shot trust. Still waiting. Last 3 were individual and were all approved in under 72-ish or so hours. Fingers crossed I get approved this week..

Edit: just received the APPROVED email notification 3/5/25. 1 week approval time for single shot trust. RTR

Finally got mine certified and submitted today for my Scythe Ti. Had to drive over and do it in person since my dealer never could get the “join session” to work on E-forms certification.
Just a follow up.
Submitted yesterday around 10:20am.
Got the approval today at 1:39pm.
Around 27 hours +/-
Silencer shop individual
SiCo Scythe Ti.

The local small gun shop where I purchased my first 2 suppressors changed ownership
I thought I would support the new owner and ordered a Huxwrx Ventum 762 from him
He did not have it in stock and had to get one in.
It has been over three weeks and he says it is still waiting for ATF approval. (the transfer to I assume)

I did not think a SOT had to wait for approval like we did.
My question here is, do they?

I don't believe he is being dishonest with me but I do not know the rules like I do with my FFL.
I do know of people that have bought cans from him and their wait times seemed on the long side of what I read here but not terrible
I understand there is a learning curve and I think he is coming up to speed on the process

Dealer to dealer has to be approved via form 3. Old days it was a week to 10 ish days. I just had one done in about 3 days, or just under

Perfect, thanks for answering my question
Not in a big hurry for it but a bit sad it is taking so long before I can start my approval wait!
You may be waiting on your dealer to find one in stock and ready to ship? I was under the impression the Ventum was being discontinued when I talked to a dealer a few weeks ago. I wanted to see one, and that’s what I was told.

Well he says he is "waiting on approval from ATF" but being a little vague
I gave him a chance to get something else but he says he has one in the pipeline

He is pretty new, injured in a ranch accident and and can't do heavy physical labor so bought this gun shop.
I get the impression he is learning about suppressors as he goes.

If the Ventum is being discontinued, what is replacing it?
I am running a Nomad L now but would like to leave that for my bolt guns and wanting to try the "flow thru" design for my AR's.

I notice the Ventum is quite a few hundred dollars less than the Flow.

If the Ventum is a good can than so be it, but if it is being discontinued for a reason or better model than I may want to reconsider

That’s just what I was told, I have not done much digging on it. It might have been the shop I went to just trying to sell me something they had on hand like the Flow series. The ventum is in stock at SilencerShop as of this posting.

Does anyone know if the FFL matters, ie, should I drive 30 mins to a shop that does a ton of them, or drive a mile to a place that might do a few per year?
I wait right outside the employee door of the ATF with a pleading sign around my neck, application in hand, jingling a cup around that contains a few pennies.

Ok no I don’t.

I don’t think we’ll ever know what the crazy route our applications take once they leave the FFL. For all I know they take a slide across the desk of the Pope as he sprinkles holy water upon them. 💦

Has everyone been doing it the "SilencerShop way"? That for me seems to have resulted in the fastest approvals. Maybe just coincidence.
Not sure what you mean by the "Silencershop way" but my last dozen cans and 6 F1s have all been done through SS simply because they already have my prints and it's easy.

My approval times have been all over the board in the last 4 months. Had a couple come back in just a couple of days, my latest batch have all been over a week.
