*** And here's the turd-flavored cherry on top... ***
Apparently the dealer is having some ATF audit issues, and it affected about 100 cans (from what I was told), and the situation is currently "ongoing", so they won't elaborate any further on it. Apparently, my Rugged Obsidian 45 can was one of the affected suppressors, and the examiner was directed to kick-back the Form-4 on June 23, and the stamp refunded, due to whatever is going on with this dealer.
The ATF won't disclose anymore info about what is going on, I just know what the examiner told me... She was really nice and helpful, and said that my background check was good, and so was my Form-4 paperwork, but something at the dealer-level forced her superiors to tell her to remove that particular Form-4 from processing.
They are going to be working on solutions for the folks (like me) who were affected by this incident, especially since I was just a few weeks from approval when whatever it is that happened, happened... So, she said they are looking at possibly doing Form-3 transfers to other local dealers, and then expediting Form-4's for all the suppressors affected. I will keep everyone updated. But I won't be naming any names out of professional courtesy, even though this whole thing really pisses me off.
I also won't know anymore info about what happened, until I call them on Monday and talk to the NEW suppressor guy. The previous guy no longer works for the company at all (not sure why, they didn't elaborate), but something seems "off" for sure...And I'm sure it has something to do with this incident. I just hope I don't have to resubmit a Form-4 and then have to wait a damn year for approval of it (current wait times have gone back up to 12 months according to the ATF). That will really piss me off.
The ONLY positive aspect of this, is that I don't shoot my pistols very much, so I don't really have any urgent need/desire for a pistol can at the moment. It would be NICE, since it should have been approved already, but If I had to pick 1 of my 5 suppressors to be affected by something stupid like this, this would be the one, simply because I won't be using it anywhere near as much as my rifle and rimfire cans.
