Ok here it is. Seems there’s quite a few fans of Zappa here. For those not familiar, this is probably going to be WTF. Also sure we’re going to hear about him being a leftist. Criticizing the right wing and worrying about a theocracy. I wonder what he would say about the current woke culture. He would certainly be cancelled.

Zappa made fun of everything. Religion yes, but also homosexuality, elitism even suicide. No sacred cows.

So here we go.

And his dad was a high ranking CIA guy, like a station chief or something. Jim Morrison's dad was an admiral involved in the Gulf Of Tonkin scam, and Warren Zevon's dad was way up in the CIA too. I could have some of that just a little wrong. They all lived within a mile of each other in laurel canyon and hung out constantly. They had a strong grip on the culture in the late 60's and early 70's. They were probably all part of the plan.

One of the greatest artists of the 20th Century and we lost him way too soon!

Between 1980 and 1988... went to 5 Zappa concerts in Montreal and one in upstate NY. THE best! Screw following the Dead... bunch of shroom-addled hippies. Zappa was where it was at!!!

Because he blended numerous iterations and layers to make something that even Eric Clapton called 'genius.' Zappa was using computer and digital mixing years before 'studios' figured out half of what they could do with computers.

Zappa didn't use drugs and rarely drank.... caffeine and cigarettes is all.

But he did support legalization as he was a libertarian before anyone knew what one was.

He had a deep, deep sense of irony and a great sense of humor. But unlike most of the musicians of his generation, he disapproved of screwing up his mind with... substances!

One can be wierd without being swacked on acid!

Another iconic moment in the life of the band...

For those who loved Deep Purple and the solid '70's rock sound... Before Disco.... Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention were at the root of the iconic song "Smoke on the Water."

not called that anylonger, IIRC the other childen and the mother hold interest in his trust, ,and wanted a cut of Dweezils income from that tour,

so he (dweezil) did the I Play what the fuck I want tour (which was excellent)

this summer dweezil is concentrating on 2 albums, Rox(postroph)y tour,

got my tickets,

never got to see Frank play, not sure if he ever toured this area,
got my first introduction in high school when I got Shiek Yourbuti

I consider myself a relative newcomer to Zappa. I didn’t discover him until the early 80s. His humor was right up my alley. I loved how he also used humor in the music. The virtuosity of every band member.

Regardless of whether or not you enjoy the song, you have to respect the way he colored outside of the lines with this one.

Never got to see Frank, but I've seen Dweezil a bunch of times doing the Zappa Plays Zappa tours. He got different members of Franks band to join from time to time. The Dweez does a pretty good job covering the old man.

I usually know a bunch of useless music trivia but I just now learned that Aynsley Dunbar played drums for him for about 1.5 years from May of 1970 to December of 1971.
