I am on my 3rd of this thing, and I am done. Why is it that when I use A Lapua case with a small Rife Primer in 6.5 CM that this thing gets stuck. All 3 of them!!! I have contacted Customer service and have been told to pump sand,. It has to be me. Anyone else having issues with this thing? I have to use pliers to get my cases out of this deprimer. And it's ruing my cases I am now looking for a depriming die for my RL 550...

Since you mentioned Lapua check out the Mighty Armory dies. For normal sized flash holes Dillon's die is about as solid as you can get.

As I recall, std SRP Flash holes are .065” and Lapua is .060”. Provided I’m remembering correctly, you aren’t the problem.
I just took receipt of a brand spankin’ new “Harvey” decapper and I ordered the Lapua decapping pins, which are 0.060” in diameter, which just fit the Lapua flash holes, so it works fine on Lapua brass.
I can’t find (having to wade through too much bullshit on my phone) the listing for the standard SRP Flash hole size, bit I’m thinkin’ it’s 0.065”. So, if the Frankford pin is 0.065” and you are trying to use it on Lapua brass, it ain’t gonna work. Also, it sounds like Frankford isn’t aware of any of this

Harvey is the bomb. And I just keep the small pin in all the time. You will never, ever break a pin on one.

As much as I hate to say this........I am not happy with the Harvey. Particularly in the ergonomics department. It really doesn't fit my hand to begin with. And, they coated the exterior with a Teflon based paint. The finish is very, very nice, but it's a slippery SOB. I'm considering throwing it in the blast cabinet, removing the paint and giving it some good old "gription/traction". I have also found that I have to grip the depriming rod with the same hand/fingers that I grip the tool with, in order to align the rod with the flash hole of the piece of brass that is to be de-primed. It's a little bit of a Chines firedrill.

But, it isn't overpriced for what you get. It just doesn't fit me well and seems like more of a PITA than it's worth. Again, I don't feel ripped off. It wasn't expensive and it does work. I think Harvey ought to take a look at 21st Century (their priming tools in particular) for a lesson in ergonomics.

I’m just elated that I have diagnosed the issue with regards to my 6.5 CM Lapua brass. The Frankford Arsenal works fine for all other brass. But the Lapua 6.5 CM brass gets stuck in it. And now I know why because of this thread...👍

Well, Harvey has come through. Quick shipping and great communication throughout the ordering process. Also, someone in the "Put Stuff In the Box" department was feeling good. I ordered a 0.06 Rod For the Lapua cases, a heavy duty rod for my crimped brass, and the actual depriming tool. Suffice it to say that whoever puts the orders together has an issue with counting. They loaded my box up, and that means a shitload to me. Very happy as I have already deprimed 5 cases of my Lapua Cases, and it went well. Granted, the longest part of using a Harvey deprimer is centering the pin into the flash hole. But once that's accomplished, all is good. Thanks again to another small company that knows how to take care of it's customers!!! About DAMNED Time I find a deprimer that works with my Lapua Brass!!!

Maybe Frankford Arsenal should let their customers know that their depriming rod is No Good for Lapua brass. Fuck them now. I have gone through way to many steps to diagnose the issue. I even called and spoke to one of their reps. No mention of the Lapua issue after I communicated with him that I was using Lapua Brass. I know it means moot to them. But they have lost a customer for life right here...

Have you possibly thought for just one second that the CS person was just as ignorant as yourself concerning the flash hole diameter on the Lapua brass?

If you were aware of the flash hole diameter, then the issue and the fix should be a no-brainer.

I ran into the same issue the other day using a Wilson die on my 6-250 brass. As soon as the decapping pin stuck in the Lapua case, I knew it was a combination of the brass and the larger decapping pin.

What I didn't do was call Wilson to complain about it. I just took the rod, chucked it into the drill and sanded the pin down until it was the correct diameter.
Took less time to do than to make a call...

It does sound like Frankford is simply unaware of it. It is a bit of an obscure issue after all.
