Forgotten Weapons has some good videos that talk about it. Look up the videos on the frf1 and frf2. I think it was more in the frf1 videos. Can't remember which one. Try these 3.

This scope is for the HK G3 SG1 mounted in HK claw mount with integral 30mm rings.
The numbers 75, 45, etc on the turret is the "bdc" for ranges below 100m mounted on the G3.
Both scope and the original HK claw mount are pos on the G3. The scope and mount are too heavy and the mount wear out and looses zero after 100-200 rounds due to in the built in flexing against the G3 receiver.
The scope didn't like the recoil characteristics of the G3 either. I went through two scopes in less than 1000 rounds before I mounted the third on a bolt action rifle with a bdc-ring going to 800m. The bdc-ring on the scope in the picture go to 600m.
I visited Scrome's workshops this afternoon, the reception by the busines manager is very nice, production has started, the tubes for the inside of the glasses are being manufactured, the manager will keep us updated as we go along of the progress of the work.
We tested the first aluminum scope bases, these bases are sloped 0.5 exactly the same as Scrome had delivered the army with the J8 scopes at the time

the mounts that Scrome now manufactures are the same as he had for the army at the time when he delivered J8s to the military, the mounts are made of aviation aluminum, at a slope of 20 MOA it allows shooting with the scrome J8 at 800 - 1000 meters max with the cardrige 147 grains, speed 835m/s - 845 m/s
and with the bullet 167 or 168 grains can shoot up to 600 meters - 800 meters, speed 810 m/s 820 m/s
the origin mounts that we see in steel with zero slope, these origin mounts are designed to mount APX 806-04 glasses, and with two eccentric rings that play around you can have a slope of 20 MOA.
the mounts zero slope origins, if you put the Scrome J8 it allows you to shoot only up to 600 meters to 700 meters with the cardrige 308 bullet 147 grains.

Ricardo, your posts here and on another forum are what got me really interested in these rifles. It was my pleasure to be able to "pay it forward" by letting you know about the other wooden box I found.
Your advice and encouragement, and the data you've sent to so many of us, are invaluable.
Now I just need to get out to the range and see how it performs.
AND I need to find a plastic GIGN box, and three to five more magazines...

Has anybody studied the FRF2's tapered bore? Does it work on the same principle as the HK 416's tapered bore, and thus increase accuracy and barrel life?

if you are interested in making a wooden suitcase, here are the dimensions of the suitcase
Here are the dimensions of the original green wooden gendarmerie suitcase:
Outside 123.50 cm x 28x H 10.50 cm (top 3.5 cm + bottom 6.9 cm)
Interior 120cmx 25cm x 8.8cm (6.1cm bottom + top 2.7cm)
Both top and bottom surface plates are 0.80 cm plywood plates of 8 millimeters
The tower are 1.5 cm plywood of the 15 mm
The hinge behind is 98 cm long and 4 cm wide
Note: inside is a little small, but the frf2 can fit with a long stock wedge, with the two wedges it does not fit in the box
The length of the FRF2 with the two stock wedges fitted is 121 cm
For the dimensions of the suitcase that you are going to manufacture will be:
overall dimensions: length 128 centimeters - width 30 centimeters - height 12 cm
both top and bottom plates with 10 mm plywood: 128 cm x 30 cm
And
the sides with 15 mm plywood:
two plates 125 cm long x 3 cm wide - two plates 125 cm long x 7 cm wide
two plates of length 27 cm x width 3 cm - two plates of length 125 cm x width 7cm
here you recalculate if I have not made an error in my calculations

last information, if you order the scope mount assembly for frf2 at the same time as the Scrome J8 scope, the base mount be adjusted with the scope and on the base mount will be engraved the number of the scope.

I have not purchased a frf2 yet. Been reading and very interested. Is it well worth it for the price? How many more is going to be imported and sold?

G'day mate, Unsure about how many rifles would still be around, My guess would be check out gunbroker, expect to pay about $8,000USD for one. As for scopes, Scrome has taken 50% deposit months ago for scopes after they asked around for who would be interested. I think you might have missed the boat on both accounts but I could be wrong. EDIT; There's 3 F2's listed for sale on Gunbroker right now.
I got my FRF2 from EuroOptic direct. They are cross listed on GB. The guys there were great in helping me select one from their inventory. Well-packaged, had all of the accessories that were serial-number matching to the rifle. The only add-on (replacement) was a current manufactured mount for Picatinny rings. Sure wish Navy Arms would have imported the rifles with their matching mounts and J8's...

Thanks for the heads up! Installing these is as easy as 1 (slip the big part over the bipod foot), 2 (spread superglue on all of the plastic contact surfaces of the big part), 3 (tap the small part into place with a hammer and wipe away the excess glue).
If I were slightly smarter, I'd have lightly sanded and then cleaned the contact surfaces on the small part, for a better fit.
I may use fine grit sandpaper to clean off any excess glue residue after everything dries.
Took five minutes to install, and they're the least expensive thing you'll find for one of these! I bought two sets, always good to have a spare.
