Well said. However the hope on my end is growing stronger. Good things have been happening, it's just being suppressed by the state propaganda machine.

It's present. In small pockets of every community. It's just that liberal turds have no problem being vocal with their beliefs. We are reserved.

This shit show happened in a neighboring City to me. Tragic loss of life of a young Fireman\E.M.T.
Easy to say in hindsight, but I wish they would have cuffed him and treated him more like a criminal when he woke up from his heroin nap.
When you watch the video you can see him printing through that #12 jersey. I am in no way criticizing the police, but so much time was spent trying to help this guy I think they lost focus that this guy was likely a criminal and in possession of something illegal, even if it was just a drug kit.
Would have been a good time and place to use the "You are not under arrest, just being detained for everyone's safety " routine.
I am sadly sure to police involved will never stop questioning this incident for the rest of their lives.

1- he admitted to taking drugs
2- he had something concealed on his right side (it’s my phone)
3- he squatted / bent over as if he could not decide if he wanted to hide, lose, conceal something.

Issue is, guys like this EMT, @thejeep, myself have dedicated our lives to helping/saving/proving Darwin wrong. Its not about making the judgement of who is a POS until coffee time or beers post shift. We all know we take care of them, some more than others, and its part of the job.
I was blessed to have great mentors starting into this world in a rough area with a lot of gangs, violence, and dope. Taught me the dangers. These guys get quick restraints while another grabs the Narcan. And yes, more training/experience shows to as @thejeep said, just give enough for them to breathe.

We dont make the scene call of who lives or who dies unless you are in charge of triage in a mass casualty incident.

That would be unethical. I am far from perfect and despise what our country has become and without a direct threat (I know this behavior is a threat), I am not taking a life.

I have no sympathy for a junky that fucks up their own life, but narcan is something I feel is very much needed and does more good than bad. Given the opioid epidemic going on, there's been many cases of small children getting into their parent's meds and ODing and need the narcan to save their lives. Anyone can get narcan without a Rx and as a parent myself I HIGHLY recommend all parents get some for your home first aid kit.

A dose of epi for anaphylaxis isnt going to kill someone.
It is possible, most likely in someone with a congenital heart issue or problems with ventricular arrhythmia's. They may die from no airway too. Seen that happen......

Narcan should be used for children, your over 18 and you overdose thank you for removing your carbon footprint. From the video when the Officer inquires about the bulge which he question was a gun. He should of drawn his weapon first and then asked for the dude to lift his shirt.At that point he would of had the drop on him and been able to fire first as he reached for his gun. Looked like the dude got to fire first.

I work as a FF/EMT in a neighboring city. The entire area has lived in a bubble for as long as I can remember. I can't tell you how many of these exact calls I've been on and thought nothing of it. It was routine It has effected us all in ways I can't begin to express.

After this, our SOPs and SOGs have changed as well as our individual approach to patients. We are all more cautious and suspicious of patients.

Everyone says times are changing. I say we're just reverting back to basic human instincts.

I'll preface this with I am not in tune with the area and how the PD is perceived. They may well be under scrutiny and really have to mind their P's and Q's. Im not trying to bash on them one bit.

My thoughts are with all involved.

Now, I am very surprised they let him keep reaching around in general, much less after he refused search and was acting sketch. I am absolutely amazed they let him move towards his belt line without drawing after they saw the bulge (and surprised they didn't pick up on it sooner). I get that the guy was acting sketch the whole time but it elevated a notch after they wanted to search him. If you make a move around here anywhere near the belt line, in a PD interaction you're getting drawn on. If are admittedly/ obviously under the influence of narcotics and you probably don't even have to move. Can't believe he got to draw and get all those shots off. Its terrible for everyone involved especially the FF/EMT's that thought the PD had it under control and were mingling/ not paying attn.

That said it is a great video for everyone to learn from. I shared it with the old lady last night and we talked again about a ton of things she needs to be looking out for when on scene. She's pretty laxadasical and thinks people are mostly good, after all we're there to help them right? I hate going into peoples houses blind and dealing with multiples especially. Wish I could go in drawn sometimes. Im glad I do the job for free because you couldn't pay me enough. I've talked to the old lady multiple times that we could go into a house or show up to a scene on a fake call and get held at gunpoint or shot for the drugs she's carrying. Im trying to push the ambulance service for L-3 vests for us at least if not plates. I probably should just break down and buy em. Problem is, half the time we're in such a scramble to get to the ambulance that we don't even put our blaze green vests on. Ive gone on some super sketchy calls where I would have liked to draw and was always making sure I was positioned for cover to do so. We get paged out on shit here that really should have a Sheriff there first but they are usually 45min out. What are we gonna do, let em die while we wait? If so whats the point of having the rural service in the first place? Im constantly torn about being involved but she is so adamant about doing it that I continue. Im not about to let her go on calls with one of these other dudes thats more clueless then she is.
