Can anyone explain to me the pros and cons between a front focal point scope versus a regular scope?

the search bar here does suck. I have found the first focal plane to be awesome when changing magnification in a target rich environment at unknown ranges (prairie dog hunting)

front focal plane of first focal plane just means that the reticle size changes with power so that you can estmate at any range without extra math involved. that is what I was told
