Just checked my SS...

Me+Employer: Have already paid in over $400,000 actual payments into SS over the last 30 years... That's NOT including any sort of interest...

I'm 10 years away from retiring, but I'll only get $500,000 in total payments after I retire if I live to average life expectancy in the US.
And I'm still massively paying into the system.. I will NEVER get out what I've paid into it even ignoring interest... so.. yes.. I'm totally funding the welfare fraud and maybe getting shit back.

BOOMERS voted for the politicians that raided social security. BOOMERS reaped the benefits of the fiscal policy implemented by the politicians they voted for. BOOMERS certainly played their part in fucking things up and it's about time BOOMERS man up and deal with at least some of the consequences of their generation's actions.

Boomers introduced widespread consumer debt, handed off our manufacturing sector to China in exchange for cheap toasters and televisions, ushered in the age of rampant divorce and the destruction of the nuclear family and sent government spending through the roof. The boomers also raised millennials and yet never miss an opportunity to shit on them like you just did. Can we at least agree that boomers were the worst parents in history then?

At the end of the day, the bottom line is that boomers consumed far more than they produced. It's pretty cut and dry. Do you honestly feel like boomers set future generations up for success?

I cap out social security every year and have zero expectation of ever seeing a dime of that money. The hell with your cost of living increase.



I bailed on my first business because I couldn't compete with illegals too. I was in the auto glass business. I went back to school, paid my dues and started a new business in my current field. My income has increased about five fold too.

I will throw in the younger generation voted for Biden... He is doing far worse in just one term, than a generation of Boomer politicians.
The younger generation have embraced all manner of alternative lifestyles, as well as socialism. They keep pushing for increasingly bad Bernie-like politicians. The real damage they do will not be seen for a decade.. but it's seeds are sprouting now, for all to see.

You left out that the craziest stuff has happened in the liberal coastal cities, and D.C. A place where the typical Conservative Boomer views are shunned. So, don't blame boomers, for the actions of the liberal fringe... we don't claim them. They would not claim us as their inspiration.

I will also point out the Boomer generation has spanned decades. Most of these new "snippet generations" are for a much shorter period. I am considered the Same Generation, as my parents; can any of the snippet groups make the same claim? It is much like comparing the entire ice age, with a single winter season. Let us see where we are at when they hit 60+ years.

I seriously doubt we'll see a reduction in benefits any time soon. It wouldn't go over well with voters.

Right now social security is funded via a 12.4% tax on the first $142,800 of each individuals earned income. That's up from $137,700 last year.

We're going to see the social security cap increase, social security tax rates increase or some combination of the two to ensure that the program stays afloat. My money's on the social security cap increasing... probably by a lot.

The burden will be placed on the upper middle class, and more specifically, employees in the upper middle class. Most won't even realize and/or comprehend what's happening. The self employed will continue to play games with pass through income from S corporations.

^^^ Mostly this ^^^ Neither political party will let SS go broke. They may increase the tax or slow down the benefits by increasing age of elegibility again. But to let it go insolvent would be suicide for either party. I beleive the BIGGEST factor is the polititians understand that inflation will do the work for them. IE You will recieve less as the years go by, but you cant blamee SSI because your check is the same amount. Your Grandpa's SS may have paid for the groceries, gas and other living expenses, But your Grandchild's SS may pay for his Internet subsciption.
