Bullseye is the shit. Back in the class 3 cage you should see what all they got, Miniguns, M2 .50's .. all the cool stuff but those aint for rent unfortunately. But they do have some class 3 stuff that you can rent. I really wanted to shoot their MP5 just from people saying those are greatest SMG's of all time. Unfortunately, the MP5 was down for maintenance or something so went for the AR 9mm instead and it was a blast! First time shooting a full auto and by god I will have a class 3 permit one day no matter what. I almost went for the PPSH that they had but I wanted to see what a 9 felt like. Yall think the MP5 would shoot much different from the AR?
And go easy on me I know the target is close, was just shooting for fun here getting a feel for it before we put the silhouette target up at 25yd. Something tells me the MP5 would hold up to wear and tear better, Idk just a offhand observation.

She did later on once we started getting more used to it. Had to get her to modify her stance a bit and lean in a bit more aggressive so it didn't knock her around so bad. I don't think anybody could shoot a FA without smiling, it's that awesome.

MP5 shoots sort of the same as the AR in terms of recoil (there is none) but is infinitely superior in ergonomics.

FA is fun. As long as uncle sugar is paying for the ammo. Then it is a blast. Unless suppressed. Then it is a quiet blast. For a while.

But precision fire is still more interesting.

After the novelty wears off, FA is just sending stuff downrange. The real 'fun' of FA is combining it with things like room clearing and tubular assaults. Where you are controlling bursts and shooting in really close quarters. Other than that... it's just a rush the first few times. Then just kind of a waste of ammo.

Precision rifle fire... is where the real fun is. Because putting things through the same hole... and through glass.... in high winds... on command. And doing all that at once! Now that's fun.

No doubt, prone with a rifle is where majority of my time and $$ goes. Nothing beats knocking out steel at 350+. But I ain't got the chance to hit a field of prairie dogs yet either and that's really what I wanna do when I get the chance.

Pretty much what Sirhr said. I got bitten by the FA bug when I had a whole ship's armory in my care. (Yes, another dirty job, but it's got to be done.) Ma Deuce, M14 with switch, M60. Rock and Roll. Naturally, I finally decided to get my own toy after all the prices skyrocketed and there was no way I could afford a Thompson or an MP5. Since I collect M1 Carbines, I finally got a couple M2 Carbines. One was a bad conversion and I sold it after a couple years. The one I still have is all correct and cheerfully empties magazines. But I find I don't shoot it a whole lot, and that most of my time is spent in the prone position trying to nail the 1160-yard gong.

When I do shoot it, I try 2- and 3-round bursts at specific small targets. Just spraying doesn't do anything for me.

Agreed ^^^ FA is fun, but the shine wears off quick and the wallet thins even quicker.

get behind a belt fed sometime, it will take days to wipe the smile off your face, unless you got to hump the bitch too.

i do like MP5s,PPSH,M9 grease gun,M14 with a happy switch,MAC10,UZI.A magazine empties quick!

Beltfed you say???

The Mutt is my way of having a mobile tripod that isn't a PITA to hump.....

And then there are the 1919's, Vickers, Maxim, MG42....

What sucks about beltfeds is that even with a progressive press an MG42 runs out a whole winter's reloading in.... done.

Well, the wet blanket is here.

I got my first taste of the FA world when I was only 7 and shot a Thompson M1. I can't say that I didn't enjoy it, but it was just something I never really saw the appeal of as much as others do. The most recent FAs I shot (stocked G18 and MP5) were actually on my bucket list because of the fact I had constantly denied wanting to shoot them due to me shooting other stuff. I can't even count how many times I was talking about how I needed to shoot those just to shut people up about them! So yeah, word of advice from someone who started this world at a young age. DON'T START THIS YOUNG! Because you'll grow out of it's luster very fast! Sure, FA is somewhat fun but the redneck in me much more prefers blasting shit at close range with a pistol grip shotgun! Much better going home with a sore wrist than a sore wallet. ;)

Yeah I figured you meant the Vickers MG... everything Ive seen says theyre very accurate out to some ridiculous ranges considering the relatively weak cartridge(compared to contemporary magnums and such).
Im sure sirhrmechanic has some experience, what say you sir? Does the Vickers live up to its reputation for great long range precision, among other MGs atleast? Was that precision mostly a result of the ammo used or a function of the weapon itself?

Coyote.. the Vickers .303 is anything but enemic. And, yes, with the proper tables and firing solutions, you could rain hell into a trench more than a mile away. It was truly an NLOS mg. Read McBride.

Concerning what sucks about belt-feds, let me quote my mother: "I feel for you but I can't reach you."

Just in case no-one has said it before, you have WAY too many toys! No wonder FA prices are so high, you haven't left many for the rest of us.
