Wife and I were in a HoJo about 12 years ago and talking to the front desk guy, when on the security monitor, a 12ish year old kid in the pool area was acting funny and putting something on the side of the pool. That's the LEM coming or going to/from the surface. Michael Collins would certainly have taken photos.
That pic is at altitude not from the surface.
ive never been interested in the moon landings, but that pic doesnt look like its taken from another craft off the moon. from memory, doesnt the video show the camera pan upwards as it leaves the surface? wifi? bluetooth? long video cable? i dont know. im open to theories.
The LEM only landed with its 'feet.' When it took off, it left the base on the moon.
There are many pictures of the Lunar Module taking off. And videos. NASA used a camera with a tilt on it to follow the module. up as far as it could.
The picture above is, I believe, from a video/movie/still series made during Apollo 11 by Michael Collins who stayed alone in the command module while Aldrin and Armstrong went to the lunar surface. Collins had some balls to be up there alone... He shot those films knowing that if anything went wrong, he would be returning to Earth alone. Or not at all. You can see the LEM is well above the lunar surface and definitely NOT taking off.
Those dudes had The Right Stuff for sure.

My Daughters' Mother died when they were 13 and 16. There were, of course, times when they would get very mad at me. I used to tell my friends, "wrong parent died".
Yeah. Seems the way NC is headed, I may move there. Rockingham county is still within a reasonable drive to work.
Just a set of stairs at the pulp mill I work at. We've got all sorts of cool stuff to train on though, even an old batch digester that's about 60 feet tall, blinded off and just for us to play in. I'm one of the new guys, so just getting into this stuff, and haven't done the fire training yet. That's in a couple weeks, then we get a couple days training/practice with the city fire department at their burn house. The first shot here has the staircase from before between the pair of tanks. The closest one is one of the ones we can practice rappelling from. The other is one of the spots we rappel indoors, through the hole at the top of the big column.
We do Hazmat training as well, and the last scenario we did was a rescue of a guy in a level A suit that was supposed to be unconscious. It was pretty tough to get him out of the suit and off the stretcher without being too rough.
