Custer is great.
Push harder to go….
I want out too, but be 7 more years….. 😔

Ice Cream at the Purple Pie Palace in Custer.
Darn good stuff 😉

For boys the age of yours, the hatchery is a cool 30-60 min stop.
They have machines to buy food and watch a bunch of fat 30” trout go crazy!
Neat history, and 100% a stop for kids under 10.
Bet she has planned it. Its a thing in Spearfish
Definitely in for a good ice cream parlor, thanks for the heads-up. I’ll mention the fish hatchery to the wife. I think she mentioned this previously, actually.

If we miss it this trip, I’m sure this won’t be the last camping trip we make to the area even if we don’t move for a while

Dayum! Haven’t been there in a long time. There are ones at Adin and Willow Ranch too.
It would make an interesting road trip to visit those still in existence.

BTW, Paul Bunyan was actually “formally” written in Westwood CA, not Minnesota. We saw the placards on the 4th of July during our annual day trip.
I have family still lives there. Collect obsidian near Willow Ranch.

Thought for the day:

You know that you told a really good joke when you get the call from Human Resources informing you that they are launching an investigation and you might want to retain an attorney.

Follow me for more advice to get people to admire you.
My general manager likes to refer to those types of things as " career limiting decisions ". He's a cuck of the highest order.

You don’t have to worry about me. I have already received counseling for workplace humor from previous employers.

The last nice counselor didn’t get my last joke, because he gave me a puzzled look and asked me if I was joking.

It just goes to show you that people with a PhD behind their name aren’t as intelligent as they let on.

Some of the most inept and ignorant people I've met are "educated"

6, 4, 2 so we can’t get too crazy. My wife is the main vacation researcher/planner and I’m in charge of the logistics of getting us there but I’ll run this by her

Yep

I’ll have to see if these will fit in to the wife’s itinerary but thank you for the suggestions

We found out some friends of ours are moving to the Custer area in a few months so we may be checking out the housing market while we’re there. We’ve been loosely talking about getting away from Denver for a bit. I think I have my fingers crossed a little harder than my wife, I’m pretty over working downtown and really want to get back to the country
My kids loved it…..you don’t have to leave the car drive right through the loop - animals everywhere.

One of the sows was in heat and my kids got to watch her pulling train on a whole bunch of boars. I called that one Stickyback.

When we went through there was a pair of bears doing it. Had to resize it down from 10mb.

That would be stolen @TheGerman valor, wouldn't it?

Cheers,

Seriously, of all the camo schemes that I've seen, the Flecktarn is the most versatile; at least in North America. That's not unlike the region that it was developed in.

My Father, a WWII veteran, complained that the Germans in that camo were very difficult to see.

The next best camo are the variants from RealTree but you have to be in the specific environment for it to work. With the Flecktarn you could be in a grassy meadow or deep in the woods and still have a modicum of effectiveness.

Anyway, it would be nice to get something like that to wear without looking like I'm trying to make some weird statement a wannabe member of the Bundeswehr.

Then there is the...
