Anyone else into detailing their cars more than a the most expensive drive-thru car wash?
 
William Manchester’s “goodbye darkness”
is remarkable as well.

He visits the island battlefields in the ‘70’s.

He was not at all of them, but some. The book is one of the first real returns to the island 30’years later. Enough is still “fresh” that it is a hell of an emotional experience.

Thanks for the book suggestion and will get a copy. Reading "Crucible of Hell" about the battle of Okinawa. Manchester is mentioned in the book in several chapters. He was a Sergeant with the 2/29th Marines and severely wounded on June 5th, 1945. Excellent writer and read many of his books.
