It was only a 1 inch incision, but it's right on the inside of the elbow. They used the finest thread for the stitches, but everything I wear rubs against it. On a scale of 1-10 it was probably a 2. I get the stitches out on Dec 22, so its something I'll have to deal with. If this was summer, it wouldn't be a problem, but now, with log sleeved shirts, it's irritating, no worse than that.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me back up and realize I have some hope for humanity.
Agree with Lawless above.
If you have never seen a bone marrow biopsy, you would know that extracting bone marrow is excruciatingly painful. Pain is minimal even getting into the bone, but aspiration is horrible. Even with pain meds.
SO, when you see this, remember that not only did this amazing lady complete a selfless act, she went through significant discomfort to do so. And had a good idea how bad it would hurt before and did it anyways.
That my friends is inspiration for a Monday.

painful was not the word and they had to change their diet or limit alcohol...something that was life changing to them/donor
they wanted to stop but the docs said they dont have another match lined up
the decision to donate is not one to be taken lightly, true selfless hero stuff right there

Well, for the first one, I had Fentanyl and Versed for the patient and they still screamed and remembered it (2 mg Versed, maybe 60kg patient).
I pushed for better sedation for subsequent ones.
Knowing what I know, thats why that story required a tissue.....
Looks like me trying to “spin” the bed sheet/blanket to where it goes the right, long way, with the tag at my feet.
