someone's used a sextant to range a target? But what about the sextant discussion?
Enjoy. Made it to the Legendary Thread based on the responses to the OP. Discussions of having mil and moa scopes on the same rifle along with a sextant. Also what rings to use for a sextant.someone's used a sextant to range a target?

MOA vs Mil
Yes, bringing this up again because I can never get a real answer, even during a match with the top shooters. I know this is not really that big of a deal with calculator and all. What is even more odd, I have watched videos on people not in the US doing reviews on certain items and they are...www.snipershide.com
Time to go pick up some more hitch hikers
This might not look like much to you internet speed freaks, but for those of us who live in the sticks it is an absolute miracle.
Bought a cell signal booster kit with a directional outdoor antenna and an indoor amp.
We went from “1X” service with occasionally 1 bar of 3G....barely able to send a picture text... to 3-4 bars of LTE!
It is fast on my old iPhone and iPad and simply having solid internet without crashing is SO NICE.
It simply mounts outside, pointing in the direction of the nearest tower (use Open Signal to determine direction) and then you route the coaxial cable inside to the tiny indoor amp and antenna.
I was very skeptical but reviews on Amazon were good and after talking to the only internet service we could get I took the chance. They were telling me that the fastest we would possibly see was 3mbps due to our location and it was going to be $55/mo!
Glad I took the chance, for $135 it is a bargain.

Looks like they all went to the shitter to share a little blow
I drive by the entrance to his ranch in Ellerbe, NC on occasion which is only about twenty miles away. Resided here because it reminded him of his homeland in Scotland or Ireland?

Never encountered him myself but have a friend who saw him in the nearby town of Mt. Gilead driving a single cab pickup that did not leave any room for another passenger.
It was his retreat from the world of movies and wrestling. His estate included several hundred acers with house built for him and barns and other out buildings.
At his passing he left everything to Frenchi who took care of the farm and livestock, who I do know. He was by all accounts a Gentle Giant of a man.
On a post at the entrance to his farm you can still see "ATG" Andre the Giant.
Starlink is taking orders for their new service that will be active next year. 50-150mbps $500 for dish and $99/mo for service.i need one on our property but starting at $1200, and it only works on 1 carrier per unit (3 carriers here). and there is only 1 brand that is authorised by .gov to be used in australia. the rest which are only sold online are prohibited and fines apply when caught.
for $1200+ i prefer the peace and quiet and money better spent on ammo.
sorry I should be more clear with what I meant by 3 carriers. in Australia we have 3 cellular carriers. reception is shit at the property unless we get an easterly wind which helps push reception towards us.Starlink is taking orders for their new service that will be active next year. 50-150mbps $500 for dish and $99/mo for service.

I can remember seeing Haystack Calhoun wrestle at Roanoke's Star City auditorium in the early 60's. I believe Gorgeous George was also on the card.I met him at a gas station in the early 70's. He was the passenger and Haystacks Calhoun was the driver. Could have been 1200 lbs in a CJ5 jeep. Funny as could be to see Haystacks get out and then Andre of that little Jeep.
They were going from their hotel to the arena where they had a match later that night.
Been there done that. The "ton" thing seems stupid to me. You don't order concrete by the ton. You order it by the cubic yard. What 4 tons of number 57 crushed stone looks like.
I have put out over 22 tons on my nearly half mile driveway so far.

Did you get it for half price?
call you're 4 12 gauge, raise you 6 45'S!
One ton of gravel equals about 18 cubic feet, so 1.5 tons is about a yard. Fortunately for me, the local places all sell by the yard if delivered; if you're hauling your own in a dump trailer you're back to tons. I guess weighing is the only way they really know what's in your trailer.Been there done that. The "ton" thing seems stupid to me. You don't order concrete by the ton. You order it by the cubic yard.
One yard of concrete will cover 80 sqft 4 inches thick.
While I understand that concrete is a "liquid" vs solid rock (gravel).
Knowing length x width and depth you wanted ordering by the yard would be a lot simpler.
Just saying. I can calculate volume easy, weight not so much.
I ran a rock crusher for a few years while I did maintenance on heavy equipment. I live in the PNW and all the yards push selling rock by the ton. The yard I worked for sold it by the ton. A reason was because we could scale trucks, versus measure volume.Been there done that. The "ton" thing seems stupid to me. You don't order concrete by the ton. You order it by the cubic yard.

Lucky. We got about an inch of ice. Lost power on Friday Afternoon/evening and still have none. No internet except intermittent cell data. Mostly in the middle of the night when load is down.I ended up not getting any ice accumulation. We were right on the line where it could happen but thankfully we only got a cold rain.
I had the gennie ready to rock as until I get a few things in place our only heat requires electricity here.
The new house will have a wood stove (I miss that the most about our old house) but this one does not.
I plan to put in a propane infrared brick heater for emergencies only in this house but the gennie will easily run the furnace.
I am putting a mini-split in here in the next couple of weeks (19 seer supposed to work down to 5deg) and the gennie should run it too as it is inverter technology and very efficient.
Wood is king however, I had a wood stove my whole life until now and the simple security of it is impossible to beat...especially since I own thousands of oaks now LOL.
We are supposed to get a boatload of freezing rain Thursday, my area may get up to 1/2”. I say “may“ because the Yadkin Valley is an odd place where predicting weather is a best guess scenario. Sometimes the bad $#@& from Galax comes down and bites us and sometimes the warmer air from the valley wins. Even when Winston gets hammered with ice many times we don’t, it’s a geographical oddity ...... Could go either way.Lucky. We got about an inch of ice. Lost power on Friday Afternoon/evening and still have none. No internet except intermittent cell data. Mostly in the middle of the night when load is down.
Lost a lot of limbs and three whole trees. Sold my 2nd Honda generator to people in need so I can’t run nearly as much now. Heat, freezers, lights. I ordered a new one to replace it and at this rate it might be here before this is over.
it was over 50 degrees today so ice is all gone. Nothing left but the carnage. Gas stations that had power all ran out of gas on Sunday. I keep about 15 gallons on hand most of the time and always make sure the 50gal tank in my boat is full and stabilized for the winter. Honda 2200 runs on about 3 gal a day. If I run them in tandem I have about 10 days of fuel on hand over the winter. I usually alternate them running though if it’s bad and not too warm to stretch it out.
