need to ride that some day with my kiddo.. Is that Lime Creek or the Animas down below?
Will admit to some ignorance of the route and creeks it follows
Could be wrong but doesn't look like one of the D&SRR Trains since most of their passenger cars are yellow. If it is most likely the Animas. Driven the full length of Lime Creek Road from Cascade to where it exits below Molas Pass and its a rough SOB with lots of shelfs. Absolutely love the San Juan's.

"Winter Photographer's Special

Not Offered In 2021

If you're a photography aficionado, you're not going to want to miss the Durango train's annual winter photographer special. This is an extraordinary opportunity for passengers to ride the train out to the Animas Canyon and hop off to capture some beautiful shots of the authentic steam train amidst the wintertime scenery."

From the description below the picture from the link I posted above.

If you have coon problems. Quick answer is a small bowl of Golden Malrin + Coke. Just what I've heard
That takes all the sport out of it. Correct me if it is a different product, if it is the Fly Bait and coke trick, it definitely works. You have to secure it up off the ground (think on top of a deer feeder) so nothing else gets it. Anything that tastes it will only go a few steps before dropping. I've heard people say that they don't like using it because of needing to clean up all the carcasses. I believe it has been banned for that application and may only be sold for fly control purposes in many areas.
I have also heard that Purina Monkey chow has been used to control them also.
I have lots of coon stories.

Planning our spring break to take us down that way from “the craphole known as Denver”.

Will sit down, map and plan, and contact them.
She wants to explore Mesa Verde and Monument Valley in southern Utah.

Pics from this thread have for sure helped her want to road trip and see some places. 😉

Make sure you call before riding. They run diesel engines during the summer months. The steam trains are the best experience.
I believe I read where they went to oil burning locomotives during dry periods in the summer months due to the 416 fire in 2018. Haven't heard whether they will be running the coal fired ones.

If you have a decent 4wd vehicle you should try the Alpine Loop which takes you over some of the passes and absolutely beautiful. Been over Engineer, Cinnamon and Stoney several times. Great flyfishing for native cutts at higher elevations.

Last week of March will make that tough I think. 😉
Will do on a summer trip.

Just peeked and they do have steam engine trips on the train the week of our trip. 😁
My daughter saw a pic on the screen and was super excited.

Check out Zipline tours. Timberline has some big ones accessible from the train, kinda $$$.

Looking at one of those in the Ark valley in the summer months.
Spendy, and an experience of a lifetime.
Used to take a 300 foot static rope and make my own off bridges and stuff in IA growing up.
Then pull myself back up for a good work out.
Now carrying a rope to the truck darn near wears me out!🤣
