Ever read what they had to do to get over the pass? To be allowed to cross, they had to have 1 or 2 tons of supplies per person. Which meant taking more than 20 trips over the pass. The book Klondike by Canadian historian Pierre Burton is amazing. I am sure that @Sean the Nailer knows who Pierre Burton is... He is required reading for Canuckianstanians. But a brilliant historian and writer.

Hard, Hard men and very few got rich. Many got dead.

Jack London wrote some excellent stories about the Alaska gold rush. Klondike Tales and others anthologies are filled with his incredible short stories written from his experiences.
