Forecast 8” of snow for my county this weekend.

View attachment 7784122
Same here, 4-8" predicted before it's over. Fluffy 2-3 as we speak. The wind is going to have a good time building up and creating new snowbanks.

In the past two weeks we have received more snow than all of last winter.

In Charlotte we are on the line. It might snow. It might rain. We might have freezing rain. Whatever happens, we MUST make it to the store to buy bread and milk. I’m not sure why, but in the south, if it’s gonna snow, you have to buy bread and milk. Hey @Lawless , you ever burn that pine cone tree? I’ve been looking for an invite every day.

Working on a canal for the BuRec. Our inspector was Navajo. Smart, great guy to work with. It was getting late in the year and the talk turned to the approaching winter. He said it was going to be long and cold. I glanced up and asked" How do you know that" Without cracking a smile he said "Old Indian trick, white man have plenty wood stacked on porch". True story.

Thank you,

Same in northeast. By tomorrow night the stores will be out of bread and milk. Like the stores won’t be open the entire time....

See, up North, you add eggs to that list. 'cause....French Toast! LMAO

Cheater bars and quick adjust bindings? Are you a a hippy or something? Why back in my day…
Back in my hippy days, it was a pair of 14"x48" Michigan style shoes, strap on bindings with a 11# 22-250 across the back. I lent those to a son and they have since disappeared. These bearpaws are much easier on old legs, not to mention the bindings much easier to release when needed (bending over sucks). Those old straps and buckles were something else when one tipped over.

The cheaters? I'm old and beat up. They make a good rifle rest for the little 5# .22 that's now carried.

Well, you need to cook it before you eat it.... :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, I've eaten french toast all my life, never had any gastric issues. Must be you...
Sometimes I make it from raisin bread which is good for something a little different. But I recently made french toast from a loaf of blueberry bread. It was amazing, best french toast I've ever had.

It took me a bit but I finally got around to getting a halfway decent pair of boots. Not totally happy about the color, so I'm thinking about going at them with some black boot polish. On the other hand, the gray is a bit unique.

....................................

Look for some leather dye. Usually comes with a cleaner. May have to visit a real boot/shoe/leather shop. Worked great on a pair of grey elephant hide Tony Lama's that are now brown.

Thank you,

On the Unity Fast Mount I posted about a few days ago.

15-22 ready for testing. My initial impressions are very positive. First, I’m no longer a turtle on this gun, I can keep my head straight and I had zero clue how BIG this is. Peripheral vision is indescribably better. Another aspect is that I can extend the stock out and grip the rail much better while easily seeing the dot.

The stock instead of being high under my cheekbone is in a pocket above my jaw and feels very natural. I am very surprised how much better this gun feels than before.

I haven’t shot yet as we’re in a snowstorm but I have no doubts about this concept. Just do it, you will find like me that while it looks odd after years of being told optics need to be low, it is absolutely the way to go. There will be more tall mounts here. Gamechanger.

I ran a MPBR calculator on a 10.5" gun with M193 and this height over bore. The target diameter was 4" so bullet never is under or over 2" from bore centerline (except when very close).

Then in Strelok Pro I ran it with this zero of 53 yards. It is good to 225y inside a 4" circle. To me this is excellent for use with a dot and up close is easily handled. Unless you're doing headshots at 5y it won't really matter much if you compensate at all but not hard to remember to aim a little high on a small target. The same was true with a lower mount too but a little less offset. This is completely overshadowed by how much better the gun feels when it's up and my body is in a natural position.
