Have a new FV-SR on the way. This weapon will fit in my safe as a trainer and fluffy tail buster. Looking for a mil dot scope to top her off. Been considering a Muller 4.5-16x40 APT... This would be at the top of my budget. I'm sure this has been discussed a million times, but looking for help on current deals and trends. Any reviews on this scope or recomendations on others would be great. Also, Was wondering about ring hight... Low going to get it done?

Re: FVSR Need Scope help

Been running the Mueller APT 4.5-14x40 AO on my FV for a relatively long time now...very happy with it. Tracks 100% reliably. Only complaint is that the eye relief is not forgiving and therefore scope "blink" happens more than I would like.

I can second that scope. Its cheap, and once you dial it in it won't move. You can also lock down the turrets so they don't accidentally get moved plus they are adjustable so you can set the zero wherever you want on the turret. Its also has red/green illumination which is handy at dusk or very cloudy days in the woods.

I really wish people would quit recommending this scope.

As of a few months ago, CenterPoint has STREAMLINED this scope into their "adventure class" which no longer has the turret locks OR the return to zero capability. Now they are simply an oversized, bulky, heavy scope with target turrets and no return to zero.

If you really are dead set on one, check e-bay and find an older one, but it will start getting blurry on you past 12x.

The Mueller APT is an amazing scope and well worth your consideration. I would have one on my .17HMR Savage GV now if I wasn't using it primarily as a carry hunting rifle. Eventually I will succumb to putting a full-size target stock and an APT on there, probably sooner rather than later. Then i'll just have a large, bulky, carry hunting rifle.

Re: FVSR Need Scope help

I put a Tasco 6x24x42 mil dot scope on my mk 2 a couple months ago. Ive got some weaver tactical high rings. The high rings and a EGW 20 moa base will force you to raise up the cheek weld though. For a cheap scope, I am extremely impressed with the tasco. it tracks well and the clarity is not bad. It begins to get a bit murky around 18 power.
