Yesterday it was 70*F in central Kansas.
Today 40'ish and blowing 50mph.
Tonight sposed to be a blizzard with heavy snow and those 50mph winds.
Allegedly 5-8 inches of snow, seems to be changing every hour, might get 2 inches and might get 2 foot if you ask me.
Right now about about 35 and raining sideways.
Sposed to be 55*F or so tomorrow and about 70 the next day (Sat).
Da funk, weather sux.
Even inside it's kinda cold, I don't care how well a house is built, when it's blowing 50mph or better you will have drafts.

In 2010 went motorcycling in Wyoming with a buddy of mine from Germany. We are riding along the road and I’m seeing snow stakes that are something like 20 feet tall. My buddy asked what those are for and I said snow stakes. He didn’t believe me. Until we came upon a snowplow parked by the side of the road that we could easily park both our bikes in. Wyoming is a whole different level of snow.

Wyoming is a whole different level of snow.

It's no different than South Dakota, North Dakota, Eastern Montana, etc.

Just wind and snow all winter. It's why you buy snow gear and snowmobiles. Gives you something fun and cuts down on the winter depression.


Worst one I've been in, I was working outside, -55*, 15mph breeze. We had a sliding scale for "heat vs cold" on that job, safety guy had us down to 10 min outside, 10 minutes in the warming station. Only problem was our warming station was the work truck, and it couldn't make heat at an idle. Had to pull the fan off the water pump.

Crazy thing I grilled steaks in my t shirt tonight. Last week it was sub zero.

Coldest I’ve been in Wyoming was in Rawlins. -45 a week before Christmas. Thank god we had a shop for that job. It was a balmy 40 degrees

Dang. -55 is seriously nasty.

Ran a diesel tanker overturned and spilled (into a pile of gel) at -28 once.

Wind gusts peaked to a windchill of -154.

Silly we had to be there, not sure you could have started the diesel on fire at that point.
Took 8 hrs to get it cleaned up.
I napped in my seat. Full gear
And yeah, our fire truck had a heater in the damn tank just for that.
Ran several of those over the years, and that was the coldest.

I am glad there's some people that love the cold and snow. They brag about the coldest temperature they survived. You wear it like a badge of honor. Y'all should have a secret handshake for your club.
I'll take 100 degrees over 30 any day. Someone once said that you can't snowmobile when it's 100 degrees. "And I don't see a problem with that" was my response.
