Movie Theater Game of Thrones

I thought season 1 was excellent and it stuck the to the book almost to the letter. As soon as season 2 started, it was clear that they decided they needed to "HBO" it up a little and add some overly-gratuitous violence, deviant sex, and general silliness to the plot that weren't in the original storyline. I stopped watching after about the 3rd episode to preserve my memories of an excellent book series.

I got the first book at a used book store a while back.
Read a bit but was having a hard time keeping al the interlocking story lines straight in my head.
Bought the first season on DVD on the recommendation of a friend and started watching it.
Ended up going back and re-reading the book a bit at a time by watching an episode and then reading to the same point in the book.
Did the same with the second season when it came out on DVD a few weeks ago.

Gotta say that it is a really outstanding and well done on the HBO series. The acting and costumes and sets are all first rate.

I am holding my breath until I can see that wildling gal get naked with Jon Snow. Her attitude and accent is super HOT. Hope her winter outfit doesn't hide a really ugly body underneath.

Other than thati, it is really interesting to see who gets killed off and how it is done. Can't wait for the skinny little king to get what he deserves. Too bad they won't be smart enough to make the dwarf sit on the throne and run the kingdom.

My prediction for the ending (about 6 or 7 years down the road) is for Jon Snow to be in deep trouble from the night walkers and the dragon lady to use her fire breathing brood to swoop down and save the day. The two of them get married and rule the kingdom together.

Really adore the show, I couldn't help myself and had to read the books to figure out what's going to happen. I'll keep this spoiler free (obviously) but I can't wait to see whats going on in the new tbd book. Bran (Tyrion's former B.G.) and The Hound are by far my two favorite...I think they cast them perfectly. My butthole was def. clenched when they were about to fight in the bar (season 1) as I wasn't sure what HBO had planned for them, was supper happy to here invasion bells break it up.

Caught an episode and was interested so I bought season 1 and 2 off of amazon. Watched both seasons back to back in a marathon. I have to say I much prefer watching shows like these all at once than waiting week to week to see what happens.

So is there anywhere to catch up on season 3 episodes other than on HBO?

Best show on TV period. Wife HATES fantasy and she can't wait until the next episode each week. We keep HBO just for GOT.

Last nights episode must have been a shocker for those who didn't read the book...

Winter is coming....

I read all the books during my last Afghanistan rotation (I'm not an Xbox guy). I knew what was coming last night and thought they pulled off that final scene brilliantly. It's one of my favorite shows.

Last episode had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I must say I nearly shat my pants at the end. It is the kind of show that makes you jump out of your chair and yell at the TV sometimes like you are watching your favorite sporting event. Last episode was the Super Bowl. I hope next week's season finale is up to the task.

The books are on my buy list for the summer.

I love how there was silence during the end credits, like "oh here, let me help that shock sink in a bit further." George RR Martin reminds us of a simple thing we all learn after spending time downrange: "there are a lot of men that just need to fucking die." If anything, Arya Stark's list seems to grow every season/book...

I read all of the books, so I knew what was coming. It was still pretty brutal. Its pretty funny how the author doesn't mind who he kills off. I got so pissed reading the books, but I couldn't put them down. HBO has done an unbelievable job with this series. The next wedding makes up for this one, but I doubt it will make it into this season.

I am pissed that Lowlight did not get cast as Tyrion (the dwarf).
When I was reading the book, every time the dwarf was mentioned I was thinking "That is Lowlight thru and thru".
No lie.

For me, one of the best things about both the books and the HBO series is that the characters are fleshed out and realistic enough that you can watch what goes on and see somebody you know that fits that personality perfectly.

Now, that's a quote I never saw coming...

Musta been rather more deeply into the LaBatt's that day...

We don't maintain an HBO subscription, so I wait for the Blu-Ray. Celia watches it on the Internet somewhere, so I'm prepared for the end. Damn, I wish I could teach that girl not to spill the spoilers.

Having read the first three books, I must say I am quite impressed with the show. The books can be hard to keep straight (the bloodlines!!!) and there are whole chapters of utterly boring bullshit about characters you don't care about.

I've only seen the entire first season and part of the second season so far, but I've not had a single complaint other than a lack of Dhaenary's boobs.

And watching the queen from The 300 be Cersei Lannister is quite the contrast.

Hands down the best character in the show (and book) is Tyrion Lannister. I especially liked him in the second book so I hope it will be just as good in the second season.

Can you find out where? I'm not looking to avoid paying for it, I just want to watch it now. I bought both seasons on Amazon and watched the entire 2 seasons back to back. Having to wait week to week when its airing would drive me crazy.

Google project free TV as was mentioned before. But be careful, there is so much malware on that site, it is ridiculous. Never download anything. It will say "you need this," but it is all malware. You can play the videos without downloading anything (except perhaps flash player, but get that from the actual flashplayer site, like ActiveX).

Yeah, I went to the site and looked at it and there is so much crap and follow on screens that I have avoided it completely and will probably wait until it comes available on Amazon streaming channel.

I agree, it's a totally harassing site. As long as you don't download anything, you should be fine. Sites like that attract those kinds of advertisers unfortunately. But as long as you're careful, it's "safe" to use. I'm too impatient and cheap wait for it on Amazon.

Sure wish they would sell each season's DVD package before Christmas.
My wife already told me it doesn't count as a Christmas gift unless it is under the tree by December 24.
It has got to cost HBO a bunch of revenue $$$ by not putting them in retail outlets for the holiday buying season.

I really doubt it. Fans will buy it when they can get it. You're not thinking of the mass of gift cards people get for Christmas.

And people are paying for HBO and HBO Go in the meantime.

And one of the reason they have it figured out is because the premium networks like HBO and Showtime are ones willing to take risks these days, not the movie studios. They haven't succumbed to lowest-common-denominator policies because they've been smart about how they make their shows instead of turning them into giant, expensive gambles.

HBO and Showtime can afford to take those risks

I'm sure they also spend a lot of time and money on research as well
(Regardless, we all like boobs and cinematic bloodshed, not much of a gamble there)

Holy crap! I'm on a binge, need meth to stay up longer to watch final three episodes of season 3! Oh yeah, and King Joffery, that little Bieber fuck needs a inmate style pounding.

Pretty awesome!

The skinny little prick killed off my favorite whore and pissed off his grandpa.
Guess which one is more likely to get him stuck in a deep dark dungeon cell?

Honestly, even though I hate him passionately, I do think the actor has done an outstanding job of portraying what George R Martin wrote in the books.

I just started it and i can already tell you when Sean Bean dies it's going to lose a lot of it's appeal. They should've cast him as someone else, it's already cliche enough that he dies in every film he's in, now every series too it seems. I realize they're following the books closely but to keep Lena Heady's character this long up and kill off Sean Bean's is just well a travesty IMO. He's a phenomenal actor SOB needs to live through at least one of his movies/series.

If you have a problem with a Stark dying, you'll have a hell of a time following this serie.
Basically, every character you enjoy will get his ass handed to him at one point.

Valar morghulis means man must die.
Very important notion to acknowledge in GOT

Awesome books, best TV show ever!
