Hello All,

This is my first post and what a fantastic site this is! I recently ordered a GAP rifle and can't wait for it's arrival. I currently have a Cooper 6.5-284 that has been an exceptional shooter. The Cooper has performed exceptionally well with the Barnes LRX 127s. This is my main rifle for deer, speed goats, etc. I have been drooling over GAP rifles for some time now and decided to pull the trigger.

I really like the Crusader, but wanted a rifle that was a little bit lighter both in recoil and weight. So, I ordered a rifle with the same specs as a Crusader except I opted for a #6 contour instead of the standard #7 offered in the Crusader and chambered in 6XC. I chose the 6XC as I wanted a rifle with less recoil for target shooting as well as shooting coyotes here in North Dakota. GAP quoted me 10 months for the build. I plan on topping it with a NF 5.5x22x50 with the MOAR reticle.

I am super pumped to take delivery and can't wait to put some rounds down the tube. I plan on shooting the 105 hybrids. Does anyone else have a GAP 6XC?

I don't have a 6 XC by GAP, but the two GAP rifles I've owned have been top notch. You'll be very happy with their work. It certainly won't be the last GAP you own. Welcome to the site and good luck on your wait. It'll be well worth it.

I was told that it would be about a 1lb less. It is basically a thunder ranch barreled action in McMillan stock. GAP's website has the TR at about 10lbs (with a different stock)

I have a Pierce SA barreled and chambered with a shilen 1:8 twist heavyish barrel in 6XC, in a Mcm A5-3 stock the thing is the caliber just shoots so well and I have yet to need more than one round per head of game to lay them flat, from Fallow deer to rabbits, they are all one shot kills.

I Think that you will enjoy it througly. /CHris

Thanks for the good info. I can't wait to mess around with the xc. Having trouble finding Berger 105vld though. What bullet and powder are you using?

Just wondering why you chose the 6XC over oh lets say........................................the 6 Creedmoor? GAP has the brass and load info is easy to find.

I chose the xc because it is an efficient case that has a proven track record to be super accurate. Nothing wrong with the other 6mm variants...I just like the cartridge. It was designed by David Tubb, what's not to like?

OK, the price of the brass for one, haha! How much more accurate is the 6XC over a 6 Creed?

They are very similar accuracy wise. There is a good article on precision rifle blog. The article details what cartridges the pros used in the 2013 precision rifle finale. In fact, the 6xc and 6 cm were neck and neck. The data in the article is nicely displayed for comparison purposes.

The great thing about getting a custom/trued factory action is that you can experiment with other cartridges within the same family by simply rebarreling your rifle....

Great choice! When spending 4k+ on a rifle paying $.30 more per piece of brass is chump change. You chose a great caliber and a great builder, looking forward to seeing pictures.

I run Norma brass, H4350, CCI 200, and Berger Hybrids. These were the first 11 rounds fired from new rifle.

I couldn't agree more…brass is a pretty small expense when considering the price paid for the rifle and optics. Some people buy other things with their money and I buy rifles  By the way, that is some nice shooting! What rifle are you shooting?

You guys are killing me, I'm waiting on mine now for a few months. Christmas time I took advantage of Mile High closeout of AI AE MKIII. After shooting it as a 308 I made the decision to rebarrel to 6mm. For a barrel I elected to use one from Mark Chanlynn. I decided to use Bergers 105 VLD Hybrids given their high BC. Part of going with the 6XC is that Norma is producing brass. Even though the 6XC isn't the latest cartridge in the 6mm group, its still tough to beat.
