GOA Sues Florida For Open Carry

Being a Florida resident I cannot support open carry without a permit or license, concealed constitutional carry is a better option in my opinion. First off why would I want to let everyone in public know I’m armed with a handgun? Secondly after living in Nashville and seeing how foolishly people open carry it is an embarrassment to the entire 2A community, a problem that was regularly occurring, open carry person being disarmed by people snatching up the weapon, and it wasn’t limited to young hood-rats.
This guy from GOA talks a good game and I get the argument he brings forward, but seeing someone with a cheap holster being used to carry a pistol it wasn’t made for, who probably only has minimal ability with no thought out preplan is a disaster in the making. You want open carry, proficiency and a security holster are a must.

Anyone have info on what happened on the Duval or st John's county Florida case where the landowner was arrested for open carry on his own property a year or two ago?
Well we have zero issues with it. How you personally feel is irrelevant. What the constitution says it what is at issue here.
Let me provide another possible scenario here.
Let's say a group of law abiding citizens want to stand and protect a home being targeted or business being targeted by a left wing riot mob (as has happened already across the country in many states if not all)
Open carry being illegal, gives this protection group a very serious disadvantage they otherwise would have against the lawless riot mob. They would need to have the right to have AR's hanging and pistols on their side openly to show this group not to try anything. The police we already know will protect the criminal hordes so what are decent citizens left to do here?
There's many more situations that can and have occurred vs government forces directly that goes more to the point of the 2nd as well where we don't need the government lawman being able to lawfully arrest people for simply standing with a Firearm visible as well.
I just watched a YouTube video where they were arresting a guy on a traffic detail for impersonating a cop. He was actually a former cop, but nimrod probably deserved to be charged.
The thing they got me is when they were going through the charges, they were trying to get him on a “carrying a concealed weapon” charge, even though his open carry was legal. The rationale was that when they first saw him, “he was sitting in his vehicle”.
So I guess in Ohio open carry is legal unless your vehicle is obscuring view of the firearm of it your holster.
They were actually working this out like verbal gymnastics.
Now this guy probably deserved it for being an idiot, but you know damn well they’re not just doing this to somebody they’ve already charged with another crime, like a person in a police officer.

Motorcyclists didn’t stand for the shit. We went around the country and rolled back helmet laws while seatbelt laws were becoming the norm. At the same time while we were saying, “let those who ride decide” we were pressuring people and educating people to wear helmets. Quite frankly, it’s a damnest thing I ever saw in my life, but it worked.
Right now the only time most people see guns is in movies or on TV when there’s a mass shooting or some other bullshit. We have made the sight of a gun an “alarming situation!!!!”. When I was a kid, there was a rifle in the back of every pick up truck window. I took my Hunter Ed in my eighth grade school classroom.
The very idea that seeing a gun causes people to have the vapors and clutch pearls is something we should’ve never allowed to happen. Not only are we allowing it, we’re encouraging it. Damn the left is so good at getting us to play their game.
Perhaps I should wear a burka when I go vote for Trump, because I might scare some letists……??

I do want to ask an honest question, though. We Americans recognize the truth that God gave us the right to bear arms and defend ourselves against any level of Godless tyranny. And that the liberty provided by an examination of natural law had, as a natural consequence, a corresponding element of danger. So my question is: Is it God’s providence that you doubt, or the fear of harm that makes you willing to resign your rights? And follow up question: What emboldens you to take the rights of other men, or endorse the oppression of those men?

The only arguments against discretionary open carry are rhetorical.
Gangsters taking guns from people is no reason to deny open carry. In fact, the whole reason to keep and bear arms is to ward off tyranny. Sometimes it is the tyranny of a shadow government.
Other times, it is the tyranny of Tyron DeMarcus, street name A-Hole. Carry how you want to carry.
I say that even though I have an LTC from the time when you needed a permit to carry concealed.
And I carry concealed, so to speak. OWB holster and I wear a t-shirt and over the holster I wear a large angler's shirt.
I could wish that others had some firearm and legal instruction, such as I had to take.
If more people were trained in how to respond and keep going to stop the threat, there would be a few less gangsters.

a 2 sided issue. i 100% support open carry. "shall not be infringed" is a rather simple statement. would i ever do it in a "normal" setting? not a chance. it's a sign that says "shoot me first". you best believe that our heroes in blue will shoot an open carrier with less reason than they have to shoot people already. would be helpful to open carry when doing outdoor stuff in places where problems are possible but not likely or imminent. best to avoid those anyway. all the reasons laid out about why it is a bad practice-stupid people,incompetent people,violence prone,irresponsible,ignorant and all mentioned above are real problems. but when you start applying denial of any 2A right to those you let the gov label as such,you then get the cascade of lefty actions and lawfare to preserve "public safety". one can see where that has gone in last 150 years.

yes. what i meant. hunting,fishing,hiking etc. if things get so bad that i need a gun to cut the grass (i think it likely),it will be a rifle.

In FL, you may wear open carry when hunting or fishing, or when going to and from those activities.
Unfortunately, hiking isn't one of the okay areas.
I wish it was, because it's much easier to carry outside the clothing when wearing a pack.
Then again, maybe I'm hiking my way into or out of a fishing or hunting area....

This right here. I may be concealed most times but I unreservedly support the right for anyone to carry any weapon however they so choose.
I am strapped walking into a grocery store. People are safe around me. Not because I am carrying. Nor would they be safe around me if I didn't carry. They are safe because of the quality of my character. The weapon is just a tool.

While I agree with you that open carry is not the best idea, I do believe that is should be legal (it is in my current blue state and it's generally a non issue) and has its benefits in certain situations.
This is like the guys owning transferrables continuing to support the 86 MG ban and NFA so that the value of their mg’s stay high.
I think this is an urban legend.
1) most are old and rare and wouldn’t lose value
2) the guys like me buying practical shooters , would love to be able to buy new and wouldn’t care about the loss in value
