90%+ of transferables that are way up in price are M16's, MP5's, Mac 10's and Uzi's... None of which are rare or historical. Outside of Mac10's and Uzi's(and I am probably wrong on those, no clue on their production status in 3rd world countries) the others are STILL IN PRODUCTION.... Being a Florida resident I cannot support open carry without a permit or license, concealed constitutional carry is a better option in my opinion. First off why would I want to let everyone in public know I’m armed with a handgun? Secondly after living in Nashville and seeing how foolishly people open carry it is an embarrassment to the entire 2A community, a problem that was regularly occurring, open carry person being disarmed by people snatching up the weapon, and it wasn’t limited to young hood-rats.

This guy from GOA talks a good game and I get the argument he brings forward, but seeing someone with a cheap holster being used to carry a pistol it wasn’t made for, who probably only has minimal ability with no thought out preplan is a disaster in the making. You want open carry, proficiency and a security holster are a must.

Spreading the same bs lies and misinformation about all these people being disarmed because they open carry.. the facts and statistics don't support that bs lie.

In Las Vegas, I see a lot of open carriers. It's shameful how "situationally" unaware most open carriers are. As mentioned above, wrong holster for the firearm, etc. I support open carry, concealed carry, constitutional carry. How people carry is up to them. I want to understand why open carry is necessitated if a person can get a CCW. If open carrying was a deterrent to someone to not fuck with you, there would be less instances of open carriers getting their firearms easily taken from them. I think a lot has to do with how the person open carrying conducts themselves. As the photo posted above reflects, I wouldn't question a person dressed sharply open carrying, but I would be weary of a tacticool fool walking around with an AR or AK at the low ready "exercising their rights." NOT saying they can't or shouldn't exercise their rights, saying we live in a world with stereotypes all over the place.

Again there is not a lot of open carriers getting their firearms stolen. It's very rare and you are just perpetuating the myth and lies.

Also the myth that you become a target is bs.. First and foremost, criminals are not wanting to have a hard time when they commit the crimes.. 99% of the time if they see people woth firearms, that deters them and they walk away..

Second point to that is most people are so oblivious to there surroundings that they dont even notice someone carrying openly.

Ease of access. Pretty simple, really. No govt paperwork. I live in WA and open carried for years across every county in the Puget Sound. From the city to the woods, including Seattle. My sample size of one is that it was really no big deal. Yeah, I had some impolite and angry people a few times, though it never went beyond that. Far more common was friendly people with positive feedback. Of all of the people I’ve talked to that shared their opinions with me on open carry, not one spoke from first hand experience.

What I find comical is people telling other people open carry is stupid or dangerous, and telling others never do it, with a ‘I’m helping you because you don’t know any better’ attitude.

I like that I don’t have to get permission from the state to do it. It’s faster. I’m an American. It’s comfortable. All that USPSA experience translates better, lol.

I think you have some good points. I think with a few tweaks we could come to some common sense compromise.
Maybe if they have open carry but you have to have a chamber flag. We have to do that at a lot of the ranges and comps. Possibly make it mandatory to wear a high visibility green shirt while open carrying.
The benefits of those two things are endless.

Motorcyclists didn’t stand for the shit. We went around the country and rolled back helmet laws while seatbelt laws were becoming the norm. Right now the only time most people see guns is in movies or on TV when there’s a mass shooting or some other bullshit. We have made the sight of a gun an “alarming situation!!!!”. When I was a kid, there was a rifle in the back of every pick up truck window. I took my Hunter Ed in my eighth grade school classroom.

The very idea that seeing a gun causes people to have the vapors and clutch pearls is something we should’ve never allowed to happen. Not only are we allowing it, we’re encouraging it. Damn the left is so good at getting us to play their game.

This might be a bit off the thread and off topic, but I have some thoughts on Florida’s open carry ban, i can easily get in trouble with it

Brenda and i are Louisiana residents. Basically in Louisiana, it’s AOK to carry anything anywhere unless you have a loaded rifle in your vehicle or in your hands on a road during deer season. LDWF are kinda overly picky about that. I suppose they are kinda in cahoots with the highway department, not wanting people to accidentally discharge their rifles through the floorboards of their trucks and thereby create ANOTHER pothole in the road…but I degresss

Our son (as most of you probably already know) lives in Northwest Florida. Great place, getting a bit crowded but we know where the places are that are nice and the tourists and newcomers from the northeast and kalifrona have not discovered. (Yet)

Seriously. I have no issues in carrying openly when working in my yard (we do have the occasional wild critter roaming about being somewhat in the country) and when going for a walk, carrying the garbage or just going for a ride down a country road. I stay concealed when going into town, where I really don’t want people to know I am carrying.

However, basically, I don’t worry if my tee shirt has caught the Walther’s or Ruger’s grip and the handgun is showing. It’s ok and in Louisiana, May through early October is tee shirt and shorts weather. Why would you want to wear anything more? “It’s HOT Man, Were you Born on the SUN.‘ I will pull my tee over the holster, but if i don’t who cares?

WELL in Florida, They Do Care! So, that is a worry. I have to be extra careful when I am often in a place and time where I simply have learned that it’s not a worry.

So, for this old fella, that law in Florida is a concern. However, despite my close ties to Florida, I don’t vote there and while I do pay sales taxes there and spend money there, it’s not my residence. Its there's, and if that is what they want, I (and all the rest of us NON residents) have to abide by it.

I just need to be careful.

I'm surprised by that.
I'm in Tampa, less conservative than the pan handle.
We are on 5 acres with our home and business on it. I open carry everyday all day for years and years. We have customers coming and going 12 hours a day and, really, less than a dozen asked about it politely. And, their questions were more about the legalities of it, which was a great opportunity to enlighten them.
Women men, children from all over the world, it's incredibly international here, and no one blinks an eye. No one cares. And they must see it, I have a skinny waist and I'm wearing a g19 w gun belt and holster.
While I may or may be not open carry in public, it's none of my business if someone else is. Right now I have to keep my shirt untucked to hide my gun when I'm out. I'd prefer to have my shirt tucked in with a nice belt and holster

I have a lifetime carry permit now that I am in Tennessee. When I lived in Asheville NC the past 9 years, our sheriff was anti 2a and anti military and vets. He would do everything he could to prevent carry as well as purchasing handguns for vets. U fortunately we had to purchase permits to purchase handguns.. I had ts clearence as well as Texas chp before it expired as well as nfa items. For the life of me he would not approve my purchase permits or my chp. Earlier when I lived in Fayetteville it was not an issue.

Open carry allows people to carry without a permit. It helps get around tyranical sheriff.
