every time I use my Giraud I wonder how I used to trim brass and cuss the whole time doing it. It makes life easy and it is worth every penny I paid for mine.

?

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

I hadnt used mine in a couple of months but got it out the other day to trim 20 pieces of 300wm. I thought the same thing, Man I love this thing!

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

I second that statement about loving my Giraud. Got mine, with case holders for 308 and 30.06, a couple of weeks ago and have been asking myself why it took me so long to get one. Whats not to love about three tedious operations condensed into one very very easy task? I have run at least 2K of 308 and 30.06 cases through mine already. Next will be an extra cutter head and case holder for .223 cases.

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

They sure do make short work of the trimming chore. Well worth the money for the time saved in trimming bass and inside outside chamfering. Best of all it's not a chinese or japanese piece of plastic sh.. Made in America!!!

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

I love mine as well. I guess If I ever get sick of swapping my 223/223ai and 308 blades and caseholders, I'll get another on order. In the meantime, I have to justify another chargemaster.

The trimmer sure helps make reloading more fun.

What is the process to change the setup, say from 308 to 260? How long does it take? I'm DEFINITELY thinking about one of these. All the threads I've read on a Giraud are nothing but A+ positive.

I love my Giraud, but never understood why you would need two.

Anyone?

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

You use the same shell holder as the 308 for 260. So you only need to move the cutting blade. To do this, you adjust the cutting blade in some, and trim a case, then make any minor adjustments to the blade from that cut. It takes me about 2-4 minutes, but I've never timed it. It doesn't take long. If you trim multiple calibers, get a lock ring for each shell holder, and it will install back to the previous setting, and may only need to adjust the cutter head. It truely is really easy.
Also, get only the shell holder for the parent case, since it measures off the sholder. For example, if you need to trim a 270 Win case, get the 30-06 shell holder. You can trim 30-06, 280 Rem, 270 Win, 6.5-06, etc. Same thing for 308, 7mm-08, 260, 243, etc.

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

I debated getting a Gracey or a Giraud for a long time.I finally bought the Giraud, based on feedback from the members here..Everything they say about it is true, its a great tool.I got to meet Doug at a gunshow, and bought mine from him there. He is a great guy, spent a lot of time talking with me and showing me how it worked,set-up,ect. Anyone?</div></div>

It takes me about 5-10 minutes, in total, to swap from my 223ai caseholder and blade to my 308 caseholder and blade, adjusted for proper length. I have a dummy round for each caliber that I use to set the initial trim length, and I fine tune from there.

Piece of cake.

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

Put a Hornady lock ring on your shell holder. Take off the sleeve, dump out the shavings, unscrew shellholder, unscrew blade, swap blades, swap shell holders, cut. No depth adjustment necessary. Time elapsed, 50 seconds or so.

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

Whats the big hurry - ya trying out for a pit crew or somethin'?!?

I figure the time saved doing trim/chamfer/debur all in one fell swoop earns me the right to take a few extra seconds changing the cutter

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

Great tip on the lock rings!!!! Thanks! The only thing that gives me some trouble is brass thickness variance from different manufactures. Sometimes the chamfer is a but off when trimming from say Lake City to Winchester or Remington. It's not a flaw in the trimmer, it's in the brass. So I try to use the same kind of brass until its of no use. Now I guess I need one of those groovey annealers...

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

My birthday is also on Christmas, I asked Santa for a Giraud trimmer set up for 308 for my birthday/christmas gift. I'll be awake all night listening for the reindeer tapping on the roof.

Thanks for all the info gents I do appreciate it.

Merry CHRISTmas to all.

Re: God I Love my Giraud!

You would love it even more if you were trimming 50 BMG cases. Do you know how tough those son of bitches are to trim? They make a 308 case seem like butter to cut through. I bought mine for trimming 50 BMG and also have the cutter for 308. It makes trimming the 50 BMG a pleasure. The step that i used to dread the most is not my favorite. Hearing the brass shaved away and then a sudden "purrrrrrrrrr" letting me know that i am done is a great feeling lol.
