Not to stray too far off topic,but a good,aware dog can buy you more time than you can possibly imagine if the bad guys come around.Not a K9 attack dog either,mine is a great Lab Mix and nobody or nothing comes anywhere close to home without me knowing it well in advance.

Well, I don't know "everything".....but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express....

Man up bro, you come on here labeling yourself as a firearms instructor and stating you want to hide guns around the house, cheap guns. After you get past how stupid that sounds, you don't really state anything in support of your original question that makes you sound like you've mentally evolved past about 12.

1,096 unintentional child firearm deaths occured between 1999 and 2007. That pisses me the FUCK off, so no I do not take that lightly. A child gets hurt from some morons stupidity, that asshole should fucking hang. You say something half-assed that sounds like that, you get what you got.

Instead of having a bunch of guns around the house that some burglar will find while attempting to steal your stuff might i suggest one gun that you can carry concealed while in the house you don’t need a permit to carry if you’re in your own home.

My solution was to buy five P226 police trade in guns for $300 each. 9mm. I then bought a Simplex-lock safe for each one, and put them around the house. That is as cheap as I found reasonable.

I have 3 chijuajua's. They are barking bastards. One frequently monitors west at the kitchen, the other seems assigned north through the living room window, and the other and the first seems to look at to the south to the back yard.

As guard dogs they are worthless. As watch dogs they are excellent to tell me about a falling leaf, or a rat, or a human coming up and for that they sound much different and I can tell.

Rotton and others are right: one familiar handgun on your hip is far better than a bunch of others behind combinations and keys. Myself, I <span style="font-style: italic">carry and </span>hide guns that are accessible and I can afford to lose if burglarized. That's what insurance is for.

Well I work in and around league city Texas and obviously Topo, you arent keeping up with the times. "Picking a good place to live",Im here to tell ya brother there is plent of crime and kick in burglaries / home invasions in your precious little city, not to mention the narcotic problems. Peaceful little League City is the home of a DEA office if that tells you anything. Im not trying to get in the middle of your pissing match but damn cut the quy a break. I consider glocks to be good cheap guns, alot cheaper than Kimbers, Wilsons, and weapons of that nature. If you dont like what the OP is selling dont buy it and go shit on your own thread. I usually dont say anything in these pissing contests but man, we are all grown ups and can respectfully disagree without coming off like DICKS.

Lets agree to disagree, You guys think there is no way to safely hide guns around the house, I happen to disagree. Maybe I am a little more creative then you. If I thought there was a chance my children could get to or even access them, I wouldnt be doing it. Yes I am a firearms instructor, and as such my experience taught me many ways of doing this. I cant even imagine a burglar would even be able to find one in the time they have in a home with many systems already in place. You guys commenting on the situation, without knowing anything, just that someone wanted to hide guns in the house, I find funny and ignorant. Oh well, I didnt think I would find a bunch of genius's here, just some and a bunch of tools.

Btw as for the spelling, I dont teach english.

Do you come from a culture that thinks the more chrome that is one a gun it becomes more powerful.

What about your family is not worth defending them with an expensive gun rather than cheap throw down crap?

Perhaps you could hide a gun or two in the new set of tires you got for your house, but have not installed yet.?

I understand having a bigger gun, shotgun/rifle stashed away so that you can use the gun on your hip to fight your way to the bigger gun, but scattering crap guns around is pretty stupid.

You want to start up the pissing contest again? You're just as big an idiot as you make the OP out to be. I've shot a $2500 Nighthawk Predator that had 5 FTEs between 2 magazines. I guess it's better to trust my life to that one than the Sig P229 my grandad grabbed for $150 that had no issues with the 150 rounds I put through it in an afternoon.

I've given my reasons to the OP concerning why I think his idea isn't that great. You just came off like a moron. We won't even go into the fact that you think you can make judgments about someone's lifestyle and culture based on the fact that they want some "cheap" guns. I guess you think it's a stupid idea to figure out what your needs are, then find ways to meet those needs based on real-world circumstances? Would it be better to buy 3 used Glocks for $300 rather than 6 used Hi-Points for $150? Yes. In his mind, he wants guns in strategic locations around his home, and he has a plan for securing those guns. Is it a good idea? Meh, not to me. Is that better than not having a plan? Is that better than not being prepared at all? Yeah, I guess so.

If you're going to make an argument against something, you should do so in an easy-to-read, non-attacking manner. It helps get your point across much better than calling someone stupid for trying to find the best mix of quality and price. That's what he was asking for, not your tiny-minded middle school insults.

I personaly like shotguns for home defence and you can pick shotguns up at bi mart for like 225 bucks i dont know anyone who can take 6-7 4.10 shotgun rounds lol + the noise the pump action makes is priceless for scareing people

Trigger locks are quick and easy to open. Store the key in a manner where the childern can not access.

Dogs give you a good head start, especially if they are outside dogs. Nobody get close to my house with out the Wife's rat dog sounding off.

I would steer clear of unproven (by you) handguns. Even glocks and sigs jam or fail to feed. I have seen that at many a IDPA match.

Pick one with a proven reputation. Take it to the range or a pistol match and run it with the ammo you plan on defending your home. If it don't run, sell it and try again.

In an earlier post I mentioned makarovs. But if you are not familiar with semi autos and the means to clear a malfunction, stick with revlovers. Semi autos malfunction, that's what they do.

Storing guns around the house is a good idea, my opinion. I store fire extinguishers all over the damn house.

If I were so inclined, I'd find about a half dozen of one type or another, large enough of a caliber for serious social work and small enough to lend themselves to your paranoia. Think S&W 3913 or SIG P225.

I would love to email a copy of this thread to your Certifying Instructor Trainer and let them see how you represent them in Public.By posting your "Title" as "NRA Instructor" you are no longer a private individual,but represent the NRA at that point.JMHO.

Come on, I had to. It was there for the taking. It was a joke though, some of you take life to seriously. Honestly, This thread has been over for awhile, the good information and advice has already been given. Its been entertainment for boredom since then. I love to see how stupid people can act when they dont agree with something and choose to attack. Obviously I feel I can do what I asked about with zero negative consequences.

Why are you buying several to hide around your house? That makes no since. If you are worried about protecting yourself either buy a holster and carry your gun on your person at your house or get a ccw and carry it everywhere you go. Hiding guns around your house makes it possible that when/if you ever have to use a gun to defend yourself in your home, you are going to be in a place where you cannot get to your gun which is something that i wouldnt risk. Also, it provides an opportunity for the person who you are trying to defend yourself from could get to it first. Not to mention if you have kids or if kids are ever at your house period. Come on think. It is perfectly legal to carry a gun on your person in your own home and if your not comfortable doing that or not confident in your abilities to handle a firearm enough to where you can carry a weapon holstered than you shouldnt own handguns. Buy yourself one nice gun and carry it on your person in a holster around your house. i certainly agree that glocks are unbelievably reliable but personally i would go with a springfield xd or because i personally like the way they feel much better. Ultimately I would go with a sig sauer 226 because IMO that is the best handgun ever made and WILL NOT fail you. Plus, it is ergonomically pleasing. Unfortunately it does come at a price of around $900 new so i understand that is very expensive. Finally, i would strongly suggest using .40 because it is wont penetrate nearly as much as 9mm will but at the same time delivers a lot more force to the target. THis is perfect for personal defence because you dont want to kill your neighbors and you want to kill the attacker. Dont get me wrong i love the 9mm round but for personal defence .40 is really the way to go.

It's threads like this that turn site into a complete crap hole. A guy asked a question, it's ok to disagree with him, but to then start calling names and acting childish is uncalled for.
