to blow on a S&B,NF Etc. I know you get what you pay for but just want to start shooting it now @ distances of 600 to 880yds. I shoot A 7MM & 6.5x284 @ these distances now but wanted to try a new caliber. I want to get something for around $500-1000. FFP, side parallax, plenty of vertical adjustment, something in a mil dot, with variable power up to 20-25 power. I will by the fall buy a better scope but need some help finding one now. Way too much shit to look @!!! Please HELP??

Re: GOOD GREIF!!!

The only scope that meets your requirements would be the vortex PST 6-24 (FFP,24 power, under $1000, mil based reticle), for a .338 lapua you should have plenty of adjustment range well past 1000 yds.

Re: GOOD GREIF!!!

I got to shoot my 300wsm out to 600 yards last week end with a new Vortex PST 6x34x50 I was pretty impressed with it. glass is plenty clear ,it held a zero and corrections were dead on. It has some nicer features than most an scopes in that price range.(Illumination ,zero stop) I think it might fit what you are looking for quite nicely.

Re: GOOD GREIF!!!

You might look at the Millett scopes as well, under 500 bucks illuminated, mildot/dash reticle, moa or mil turrets and I think 140 moa of adjustment. I've had one on my 300 RUM for over 300 rds with no issues returns to zero everytime. granted it was only to get me started and will be replaced with a higher quality scope, but if you just want something to get the rifle up and running take a look at them.
NOT an FFP scope though

Re: GOOD GREIF!!!

I just put a bushnell elite 6x24 ffp mil dot on my savage 110ba in 338. $938 to my door. I don't have anything to compare it to but it worked fine for me. I put my last 12 rounds thru it out to 500 and had no problems seeing my 12x14 steel. I bought the bushnell due to the wait time for the pst was killing me.

Good luck with your choice, my eyes bled while trying to make a decision.

Re: GOOD GREIF!!!

Hey Mcgruber, how you like that Savage 110 BA thats what I just got? Cant wait to shoot it! I was looking into millet not bad for the price around $350 - 400. Starting to think more about the sighttron SIII Long range in 6-24 or 8-32 but not sure if there FFP? Would like to look at a bushnell they seem not to bad.

Do a couple searches on Springfield scopes. They are absolute turds. Vortex would be your best bet.

I'm loving it so far. Only 40 rounds down the pipe. Need to get a few more pieces to start reloading. It's some dollars to shoot this round, but I knew that going in. Recoil is pretty light, my gf shot it yesterday and really liked it(total novice btw).

Shoots where I point it. Only been able to get to 500yds but I think I just found a 1k plus spot to shoot(one friends property to the other gotta get permission from the other guy first.) The bushnell seems up to the task, gets slightly dark/hazy at max power but still useable for sure.
