I’ve live in Commierado for almost 6 years now and can count on one hand how many times I’ve been to Denver for something other than driving through. It’s my fiancé’s birthday today and was wondering if there’s any good places to get a good steak in Denver that’s not Texas Roadhouse or Ruth’s Chris steakhouse with the latter not being majorly opposed to. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

El Major is cool, if they are still open. Small unique joint for something different. Butcher their own and make killer charcuterie there too. Limited menu tho so you might call and see what they have and make a res if you want.

My favorite is the Wyoming Rib and Chophouse in North Denver, I mean Cheyenne...
They are too inconsistent for me to enjoy, plus they put green shit (parsley) on their steak.
OP, there are several good steakhouses around Coors Field, might try one of them.
ive eaten at Wyncoop Brewery once or twice... I cant speak to if their steak is worth a shit or not but the elk medallions with the blueberry reduction sauce was outfuckingstanding...
If the Edge (Four Seasons restaurant) is serving their Buffalo Burgers, then forget the steak. They do have great steaks as well...
That they are, I've had well done ribeyes we ordered medium rare from there, other times they have been spot on and damn good cuts. Gillette's is far worse than Cheyenne's though, the few times I've been to the one down south it has been really good. Mostly though, I was just bagging on Cheyenne being North Denver to draw Bender's ire.
As for Denver proper, I agree Union Station/Coors Field has some great restaurants around it, and every trip I take through there it seems there's two or three new ones serving some awesome food. I can't speak to any steakhouse there, last year when I was working Denver for a month right after the china flu broke out, everything was shuttered up and we stayed in Hudson to avoid the draconian lockdown rules. However, the butcher shop there (Hudson Lockers) has some incredible cuts of beef/pork and in-house made sausages, so we grilled out every night and subsisted on a diet of steak/sausage and cheese curds for four weeks.
Many years ago the wynkoop brewery was my favorite place to eat downtown.
They had an insanely good chili and the rest of the menu items were fantastic.
If I was in Denver that’s the first place I’d go.

Have not tried Blue Agave. Looks like it’s near Old Town where we use to go and get cinnamon rolls (Junction) many years ago.
The Bull and Bush has decent food. I think Tuesday and Thursday nights are Prime Rib night. Its also a Brewery. Its at Cherry Creek. The Buckhorn Exchange was pretty good but very expensive. They have a lot of older guns and animal heads on the walls. It has a rustic and interesting decor. A few of the others that we enjoyed failed to survive covid in 2020.

Well. We went to Guard and Grace and the fiancé was very happy with it. As was I. My 21 day dry aged ribeye was phenomenal and her New York strip was perfection. Excellent service and excellent food. Definitely a long once in awhile kinda visit. Will definitely be checking out the others for random occasions! Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!

10 years ago is the pic. I thought they closed too but they showed up on a Google map. Website says "Temporary Closure".
Well I have say you do look a little younger in the pic. No offense we all get older! I'll miss those FL stone crab claws that Morton's served on a bed of smoking dry ice - always impressive after a martini or two! Or was is shrimp cocktail?

i was off grid in UT with the youngster getting windburn and playing on the slickrock.
Morton’s or Shanahans are top choices for me.
Elways wasnt as good to me.
There are a few other places that are really tasty for high end food but not famous for their steaks.
Fruition and TAG. Had a 6 course dinner with drink pairings at the latter that was off the hook at the latter a couple years ago.
I would say TAG for next time you wanna do it up fancy.
they do some neat paired dinners. Its nerdy and I enjoy how the food/drink pairings work.
