Just got back from my first ever pronghorn-muledeer hunt in Colorado. To say it was an awsome trip is an understatement. On the first day I shot this pronghorn. This was by far was the most fun I have had on a hunt in years. The muledeer I shot was just a 2x2 but after the goat I wasn't going to be greedy, just lookin to put meat in the freezer. There were 3 of us and everybody tagged out in 4 days of hunting. On the way out we were stopped just inside CO for 3hrs cause the interstate was shut down for snow and cleared up staying around 50 for the high and 30 for the low for the rest of the trip.

Re: Booner speed goat

Sendero man,
I started to doubt how I scored him after you said something so I went back to the score sheet and reread the whole thing and I did not measure it wright. I had it all jacked up.I'm going to get the horns back and re measure them. I added the tip-tip and inside spread, measured the cutters wrong. I guess thats what happens when you get all jacked up and don't read all of the rules of the score sheet

Re: Booner speed goat

Congratulations on your hunt! You left out all the juicey details on your hunt such as rifle, load, range, and shot placement. These are things I gotta know!:)

Nice Goat...

That I80 and I70 Corridore in Eastern Co , Wyoming and Nebraska is still not cleaned up. High winds took a hell of a storm and turned it into a miserable few days. Good thing is with that wind it dried out some of the corn so now the farmers can start cutting..

Who did you hunt with?

Re: Booner speed goat

I forgot to mention it was a DIY hunt, my good friends brother is stationed in CO. Springs CO. We stayed at his house and hunted from there on some private ground. No guides and no motorized vechicals, I shot my goat at 4.3mi. Took pics, quartered it up, packed it up in a ruck sac, and walked out with it on my back only stopping twice for a short breather. My muledeer I shot was only 2.6mi from the house and we used a cart to get him out. Needless to say I worked for every bit of meat I brung home and won't soon forget all the memorys that I had on this trip

Re: Booner speed goat

Congrats hombre, that storm was a real bitch! I was stuck at a truck stop in Laramie for 4 days, at least I had a camper though I felt bad for all the people who had to crash in their cars...the first part of the trip went well though, we smoked 2 goats and an elk, had one elk tag left but we decided we better get to lower ground before the snow got too deep, i'll be shopping for a wall tent before the next trip out, the 31' 5th wheel is a real PITA up there,

Re: Booner speed goat

Yes it is a type of antelope, also rescored my goat not Offical yet but I scored him at 76 7/8 net and gross would be 78 2/8. I feel alot better about it being right now. Still to be my fist pronhorn I am speechless over the whole hunt as words couldn't begin to describe the amount of fun that I had. Anyway, thanks for all the great comments.

Re: Booner speed goat

Goat is just a slang term for Pronghorn antelope most likely because it is in the Goat family.

I put down 3 doe goats with my 6.8 this year in WY near Gillette. One was 120yds, another was 67 (headshot) and the last was 165yds. all were DRT.
