Had to dust off my old account since the internet seems to be devoid of this question (makes me think that there is an obvious answer that is just out of my grasp). Even here on this site there is no mention of GLS Technology (ominous). Silencer Shop does not carry GSL suppressors however they partner with "three time world champion: US Rifle Team" which sounds rather impressive.

I have a feeling that TBAC is the crowd favorite here but I am just not a member of a lot of different shooting forums (just this and 24hourcampfire) so I have a feeling of what the answer is going to be but I am going to ask anyway (if only for the Google search cred).

So, which is better in the realm of long range shooting? Both boast marginal to no POI shift and both are made in all the standard calibers (5.56 7.62 6.5 and .338). While the GSL is heavier than the TBAC equivalent it is also cheaper (IE the GLS Copperhead .338 is 1595.00 and the and the TBAC Ultra 338 is 1795.00). If it really comes down to splitting hairs we can go into to stuff like website design, customer service and so on but that starts diving in to more trivial aspects and really gets away from the main question.

Just interested in picking some brains and seeing what people out there think.

Biased answers obviously, but...

We have a ton of videos using mil-spec soundmeters on our cans, and some other cans, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjlL0yKZhVsJgzEpPTMcqTg/videos

dB numbers are hard to compare without doing side by side milspec test in one take. We've never metered on of theirs to my knowledge. I haven't seen one at a match.

Minimum barrel lengths on their .30 cal and .338 cal stuff are "generally" but not always longer than ours. E.g. our minimum for the 338 Ultra is 16" with .338LM, theirs is 24". The 338 Ultra weighs maybe roughly 20 oz with the brake included. According to their web site, the Copperhead is 36 ounces "with direct thread parts".

I have the TBAC Ultra in 6.5mm on my AI and the only issues I've ever had is that several of my neighboring states don't allow cans unless you're LE. I find that the suppression level is significant enough that I can comfortably shoot without any hearing protection (don't do that for extended periods) and the POI shift is practically non-existent. I've tried firing with the can on, then removing and firing, then replacing and firing, and the results are very repeatable. Couldn't be happier since I haven't seen this level of POI consistency with several other brands I've tried.

Thank you for the information. Sorry i have been slow to respond, but it has been a rather busy day at work (right before the holiday). I am pretty sure that if i am going to get a can for my long range rifle i will get a TBAC can. I might stop by TBAC on my next trip through Cheyenne and say hi!

You're welcome. If you are in that area, I think stopping by would be a great way to look at their selections and meet a great bunch of guys. I found them to be very informative and good to work with. Good luck!
