Ok, so I bought some of this stuff after hearing that it frees up stuck bolts and basically eats carbon and copper fouling. I put a small drop on a gas regulator knob and after waiting 30 seconds it feels like it spinning on ball bearings.

So, now my gun cleaning regime will change a bit. Im going to hose my gear down with gun scrub and a few scrubs with the rod/brush/patch method and then use Kroil to oil, clean, and lube my shit. Guess its about the same as Mobil 1. $9.45 for a decent sized bottle.

I've been mixing Kroil and Shooter's Choice together for years. It's an old benchrest shooter recipe and it works great.

Kroil's good, but I haven't found it to be "The One". I use Boretech Eliminator, Kroil and CRC Contact Cleaner in sequence. Each one seems to get something the other left behind. Boretech is better at getting copper and pretty good on carbon, especially when soaked overnight. Kroil is pretty good on the carbon and fantastic at loosening stuck bolts. Alternating Kroil and CRC with a brush gets the most stubborn carbon streaks out if I don't want to soak overnight with the Boretech.

I just got some Frog Lube and am going to give that a try on a gas plug that is on its third overnight soak with Boretech

What mix proportion do you use?

Ok I know there are many opinions and methods of cleaning but quick question you said <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> I've been mixing Kroil and Shooter's Choice together for years. I just bought a used F-Class type rig in 6.5x284 and the guy I bought it from gave me this info for cleaning can you help me decipher and figure out do I mix the MC7 and Kroil because thats what it sounds like but just want to see what you all think

From the original owner: " I use Shooters Choice MC#7 and Kroil to break up fouling and clean copper. I usually run a few patches of this through the rifle and then a clean patch. Then I'll run a few patches of bore paste through (The brand is JB). After this I run a patch of Kroil and MC#7 and let it sit for a while. Probably 20-30 minutes then run a clean patch through. I'll repeat this process until the patches don't come out blue anymore. "

He said the gun shot half MOA all day long so I assume it worked well and Im thinking I may adopt this method and these cleaning products for all my bolt guns.

Re: Gun cleaning / Lube - KROIL

I use Butch's Bore Shine and Kroil mixed half and half, Kroil is a penatrating oil it aids the copper solvent in removing it it will not remove copper by its self, but it will break up carbon and float it out of the barrel and action, I like to soak my muzzle brake in it to get the carbon fouling out of it. There are better lubricants out there but Kroil and Marvel Mystery Oil are the best penatrating oils out there.

Re: Gun cleaning / Lube - KROIL

How about blasting the knob with gun scrubber aerosol cleaner and then using the kroil? Or I should I mix up some ratio of dual cleaners and use them at the same time? Not too sure what the most effective method is but I know that Krio stuff really loosened things up a lot.

Re: Gun cleaning / Lube - KROIL

I start with Boretech Cu+2 Remover, which is an aqueous rather than organic solution. It does a fantastic job of removing both copper and carbon fouling and is very easy on the metal (no ammonia). However, it's in water, so I follow that with Hoppe's #9, then a couple patches of Kroil, and finish with Hoppe's gun oil and a few dry patches. Possibly excessive, but I'm pretty sure there's no moisture left in the barrel after that. On occasion, the Kroil will pull some residual material on the first patch that the Cu+2 and Hoppe's didn't completely remove.

Re: Gun cleaning / Lube - KROIL

I used to use the Kroil with.... D.Draig, once you properly use the FrogLube it will remove all the petroleum base stuff pretty quick. I started my brand new AR308 on FrogLube right from the start and it requires only to be wiped down after a day at the range. During break in,shoot one clean one, nothing stuck to the barrel or the bolt..... it just wiped clean. I checked the barrel with a bore scope after break-in and I was really surprised.
My 45ACP loves the Frog juice!
I use the Kroil in my shop religiously it just works.

I too use this combo. I mix 50/50...
