Photos Gun safe organization ideas

I just purchased and set up my first gun safe. I went with a stack on 28 gun safe. I have 4 long guns and an AR in the one side that I consider to be full and all shelving on the other. I'm probably going to get a door hanger also, pretty standard stuff. I was considering possibly cutting a couple shelves down to half shelves in a couple places but not sure yet. I was just wondering if anyone has done any custom work to their safe or just what others have done for some inspiration. Any photos?

I think your thread will be ok here, if someone will post pics. I've learned when looking at safes, I take their number of guns, subtract about 66% to come up with the number of guns it will store without beating the shit out of things. They don't take into consideration huge scopes, and most people don't have a rifle rack next to it to store all the ones you must take out to get to the one you want.

As for shelving, you must decide what is actually safe worthy? Are loaded p-mags and ammo that valuable? I re-did my liberty once and kept the shelves, 2nd time no. I made a beautiful butcher block interior, went around the perimeter of safe, and had an island jutting out from the back to hold ar's, with one upper shelf. Then I got into this game and most rifles had 26" barrels, with brakes, and the whole system became obsolete.
I used to have pics, but think that computer hit the landfill, need some, pm me and I'll try take some. Your 28 gun safe might hold 28 Win 94's!

Thanks for the ideas guys. I don't think I need a pic milo, I think I understand, I like the center island idea. I also like the pistol holders too. How does a guy attach anything to the inside wall of a gun safe? I see screws in there but when I try to screw something it just strips the fire board out

The thing about a safe is, once you have one you will find all kinds of stuff around the house you want to lock up. I started out with one, then i added another, and then I added another as there is always something that needs to be locked away. Firearms are one thing but what about camera/video equipment, rangefinders, spotting scopes, laptops and other stuff that you would like to protect. I even keep my compound bows in one of them. While many may find that odd, paying 1500 or more for a good bow setup is worth locking up in my opinion. Then my wife wants to put all her crap in there so these things fill up rather quickly. Always purchase one that is at least one, if not two, sizes bigger than what you think you need and you will still fill it up.

Yea, I originally thought I would fit all my guns, a couple of bows, and a couple of guitars but my 5 guns fill half of it.

You might try removing the bolts on the rifles as that helps to get them a little closer sometimes. You could place some hangers on the inside of the door to hang a guitar or two if you are adept at making stuff. I doubt the bows would fit on the door and close properly unless they are recurve and then they will stay close to the door. They also make hangers (which are basically straight pieces of platic) that you insert in the barrel to stand the rifle straight up and takes up less space that leaning them.
