Gunsmith Price Check - Threading, Chambering, & Crowning of Barrel Blank

I'm glad to see these prices posted.
What I'm reading is inline with local gs charges.
Having said that I see so many used rigs for sale for what seem to be the sum of its parts plus like 1500$
Charging a premium for convenience?

There’s cost from the gunsmith’s labor built into the price that the original owner would’ve paid.

Does the action need to be trued as well? If so, don’t forget to factor that in. $250 or more for that
Add $75-$125 for threading for a muzzle brake.
No muzzle threading? If not, anything between $250 - $300

This will be for a hunting rifle with one of the high end budget actions (BH Origin, ARC Nucleus, etc.)

So it will be strictly threading, chambering, and putting a target crown on it with no muzzle threading.

Prices vary between shops as do their reputations and quality of work. Easy enough to do your homework; most gunsmiths have a web site listing prices for their services.

Install/chamber barrel is usually $250-350. Muzzle threads $60-125, Pillar bedding can range from $200-750, Cerakote is usually $150-400 (depending on depth and scale), plus whatever other fitting/machining is done... Blueprinting, time/tig, DBM install, barrel channel inlet, scope base bedding...

I always supply my own parts for a build, labor costs normally run $700-$1000. Chamber, thread, bedding, cerakote, and custom inletting for barrel channel or bolt release, etc.
I have builds by GAP, PVA, LRI, Core, Gradous, and Kampfeld.

Here is the invoice from my last build

Nothing out there only costs the sum of its parts.

Just so happens that with firearms, it’s easy to price out the parts and see what the premium is for labor and quality.

If you've got time PVA is probably the best price on a shouldered pre-fit.

I’m a little hesitant based on what I’m hearing their real-world wait times are and now that their John Hancock rifle is starting production.

They are also ~$150 more than the keystone accuracy button rifled and a Krieger from KA is ~$50 more than the button rifled from PVA.

I'm sure. I've been waiting over three months now for my PVA barrel.

Is Keystone doing Origin pre-fits now?

I talked to him two weeks ago and the answer at the time was not yet because he hadn't seen an Origin yet. I was supposed to send him mine but some stuff came up and I've been a bit delayed.

We can get the muzzle threaded for $50 here in the Dallas area. Can't believe some of yall are paying $100+ for it.

I don't know anything about the prices for chambering barrel blanks. Have to trust everyone else on that front.
