Hey anybody know if ( H-110 and Win.296 ) pretty close to the same powder burn rate for reloads ???

Just asking because with all this Frenzy panic buying from the local idiots . They robed all the H-110 off the local shelves & all I got purchase access from local stores is ( Win.296 ) for the time being .

.....thanks

The Hodgdon manual lists them exactly the same. I have had good luck with both. That being said, in some .454 loads, the H110 seemed to burn more completely than the W296.

from what i quickly looked-up & read on the internet it read that both were similar w/some saying exact same manufacture of both . but I never fully trust all that is printed on the Net. until I hear from those who actually Loaded/used both .

Needed a quick 2nd opinion . What I was having a hard time comprehending WHY ???, the frenzy hoarder bought every bottle & jug of the H-110 but left the Win.296 ??? That is what was throwing me off . I Cant figure that one out .

I just got back from the store & bought a couple pounds of Win.296 tonight for the usual 19-$-LB retail .
The frenzy buyers cleaned out all the stores last month . I am stocked tight on the main components I forever shoot like 556 & 308 & 9mm . I Just need powders like h110 or the Win.296 for for the oddball toys I shoot 30-221-BLK boltgun & AR .

Glad you posted your LGS experience Mr. Cock. It confirms my suspicions of WHO is hoarding.

Might explain why I found CCI550 primers almost unmolested at my LGS the other day. Yep gonna load em right up in some 9mm....

OOps I might shouldn't have told that, they will be gone next time I go in there.

Now If I could find some bullets in any appreciable quantity Iwould be setfor the years competitions. Iain't worried yet and I shoot a lot, so take heart.

Same powder. Typically the Win label cost a couple $ more.

Don't even trust it then.

BTW, for $19/lb, you did really good. That powder makes my .357 a Tactical Breacher... Flash-Bang upon entry…

Re: H110 . and . Win 296

I had a similar issue using H110 for some .30 carbine reloads. I ran out midway through my reloading session so I was forced to use WIN296 instead.

Although the load data is identical, you'll still want to load up some test rounds. In my case, I found that even with identical charge weights, WIN296 was giving me ~50fps less compared to H110.

I was perplxed until someone pointed out the 3% burn rate tolerance. Someone on the CMP forum ran the numbers through QuickLOAD and the numbers jived with what I was seeing. My H110/WIN296 were likely on the high and low sides of that tolerance.

So be advised that you may have to do some tweaking of your load if you're trying to hit a particular velocity.
