K-Bars Half-Face Blades enthusiasts thread

There is no time these days to browse; seems like anything other than production jr’s/crow‘s go at a sub 15 second checkout.

Granted, I will say there is no other knifemaker I have seen who does custom work like this and one that churns out this many one of a kind, couple of a kind blades.

The top mentions IMO from last night:

Really digging the ironwood line-up and now trying to collect them all. Huge task!

These two are on my hunting list.

It’s Back! Got two bottles myself, I’ve been buying other things of late and money is dry, but still leaking it. It’s really true, a few drops goes a looong way. Really enjoying all the flavors coming out from Señor Lechuga. Got two of another collaboration offering OTW too. Listed below HFB….Fun….🤙

For some reason that last comes up in Spanish…translate. 🤙

Pretty funny… Safari translate calls Señor Lechuga “Mr.Lettuce” 😶🧐…WHAT! 🤣

Congrats Budd On your new breacher! Last nights drop was def weird, I believe a lot of people expected everything to be dropped at once. Not sure what happened, but glad some good folks got some stuff. I was looking for a piece that wasn’t posted. Maybe tonight!

Anybody want to post what they scored?

I thought the drop was over last night, and had scrolled down to the bottom of the page. That breacher just popped up and i didnt even look to see what it was, i just hit buy now and started typing as hard as i could. That knife will become my edc, and replace a gen 1 Emerson puk, which is a little rare.

A lot of people were after that Jr. custom. I believe a bunch of people from the FB group were going for it, and two people got them. Amazing wood split on it!

Last nights drop brought out a lot of inexperienced buyers that became incredibly salty and calling out certain people for what they perceived as to the reason why the knives are getting scooped up so fast. A lot of people tend to forget there are thousands of collectors going after these every drop. Personally, it just takes time and dedication to get these knives. If you are a collector, that shouldn’t be an issue. But people are complaining after only being into this company after a month and putting in only a couple drops and then getting pissed.
I’ll say it here that it is possible to get good knives, but it takes time, research, and dedication.

Does anyone have any knowledge on how they treat their ironwood when creating these pieces? Mainly curious.

Also, since I am relatively new to long term ownership of ironwood pieces, does anyone know the best methods of maintenance for the wood and how to keep the handles looking great?

Ive heard people say to continue to oil the handles and I have also heard people say to use wax. Strangely enough the Half Face Blades warranty/info card says nothing regarding their woods.

Thank you gents!

Ironwood is very oily and naturally moist. I would occasionally put a very little bit of oil on it and rub it in. Of course you don’t want it dripping or running off. A knife making friend of mine told me how oily the wood is, and he won’t put it on his sander because the oil in the wood will heat up and expand and crack the wood. When he does ironwood, he does it all by hand to avoid these problems.

My meager little collection. Still looking for a custom, but you have to be so fast, and so many people are after them. It will happen one day. View attachment 7598108
That edge on that Breacher is impressive! Great collection and matching blades man! Ebay and the HFB FB group are great ways of acquiring pieces that are hard to get. I have had to go that route with a couple pieces, and def worth it if you are looking for a rarer less often dropped blade. I do not see the demand dropping anytime in the near future.

Happy Hunting!

Does anyone ever trade on here? Seems the FB group is the only place I’ve seen that does.

Figured it would be nice to have another avenue for enthusiasts here who are not into the FB realm to possibly trade occasionally here. Not sure if this is frowned upon or not here.

Personally have a couple nice customs I’d like to trade now that I am interested in obtaining some other HFB’s that do not come about as often.

list them if you have something you are looking for or want

What are you looking to trade/trade into? I’m on all the pages and happy to facilitate something if you’re interested. I believe there’s a Mewe page as well, but I’ve never been to it so not sure how active it is.

Awesome! Wasn’t sure if guys did not want to or like to on this page.

I am interested in probably a basic Cav with wood/ironwood or micarta first. Could be any wood. Have not owned one yet. I think it would be a great addition to get.

I would be interested in a custom widow or custom breacher. Anything wood, or bone split. Or micarta. Even interested in older G10 stuff on these. Those would be the 3 styles I am interested in.

On my end, the fanciest I have is a giraffe bone red cloud. Have widow, skinner, breacher ironwoods. Possibly a hawk in there depending on what someone has.

Thats where I am at, and know that certain pieces may not equally trade and there may be more or less on someone’s end.

If anyone’s interested I’d love to talk about it!

Thanks

I like that Breacher.
the acid finish is by far my favorite.

I dont have FB or any other social media. Does he make scales out of the same kind of material as Foundation stocks? Seems it would look cool, but I wouldn't be as worried about scratching it on a knife that gets used all the time vs the nice wood.

Have to say, first time experiencing HFB bone split handles. If you ever get an opportunity for one, go for it! Truly insane craftsmanship and materials on this thing. Hoping to be able to see more bone splits down the road.

That thing is an absolute unit. One of their most striking pieces to date, which is really saying something.

First wood split I have owned; bout one of the most impressive pieces with character I’ve seen. I’d say after seeing this piece, wear and use on these blades can add luster and uniqueness you cannot get with their brand new blades. Could not have made this happen without the help of a great person!

-Disaster Breacher, Ironwood handles, Onyx w/ gold webbing, Brass pinstriping, Brass mosaic pins, Black G10 liners.

Beautiful Desert Ironwood Breacher and Widowmaker.

Debating a possible FT if anyone was interested. These Ironwoods are amazing with the grain and color being different on each piece. A lot of character and life in their Ironwoods.

Looking for micarta, wood, or wood splits, or bone on Breachers, Widows, or Disaster Jrs, or hawks.
