Night Vision Halo N-VIsion Optics

Is the image btw the atlas and halo any different? I feel like it becomes pretty poor when there's any kind of humidity, which is like all the time in Texas. To be fair that happened with my reap as well. Surprisingly the pulsar does pretty well in humid air.

I think the only difference between the two internally is the screen. I think the weapon sights have a better screen, but that wouldn't make a ton of difference. Any thermal will suffer in extremely humid air. There's a video posted comparing a XP38 trail to the HALO LR in misting conditions. The HALO blew it away

I hope so! Got my halo lr on order. Was told it would ship April 1.

The atlas itself is amazing functionally. Much easier to carry and a hell of a lot less eye fatigue. Even tho the trail was clearer on that day I just don't like the green tint it has and it messes with my eyes. The atlas is much superior in that regard

How is the Atlas under digital magnification ?

I had my patrol out last night. I got it 13 months ago, but it was lent out for 11 of those months and just got it back a few weeks ago. I was impressed the 4x digital was very usable ! I didn't try 8x. I generally find 4x digital usable on the BAE cores, so the Atlas should be useable as well.

Tried to take some more pictures through the lens, but it's hard to keep everything still. View attachment 7045984
Ughhhhhh I want to be playing with mine. that looks insane. I haven’t even look through one and I think i will be selling my reap ir.

Do you all think maybe they over sold them or still messing around with final software adjustments.

Did you order HALO or HALO-LR? In addition to HALOs that were already sent to customers, we'll we shipping more very soon.

The software has been done for a while now and we are not touching it.

Thanks for answering all the questions on here Max! My dealer told me my batch is coming in to his store apr 1. Hopefully I can get mine soon! Love my atlas btw!

@Mindreader1 connector on HALO/HALO-LR/ATLAS is Hirose Electric Co Ltd 6 Pos Connector p/n HR30-6R-6P(71). You can find pinout details in the manual on pages 24-25. Please let me know if you'll be able to find matching right-angle cable connector. I'd _really_ appreciate it. We looked everywhere and could not find it but I hope that you are better and luckier!

@Max_R what's the designation for the DVR port for the Halo LR? Wondering if there are any right angled cables available. Thanks!!

Would this one work? Just need the male end to be connected to a usb?

So not sure what the voltage of the ones you are trying are but per this, the RCR123 voltage is usually around 3.6 or 3.7

https://lightsngear.com/what-is-an-rcr123/

Whereas "normal" c123 battery voltage is around 3.0. So try some 3.0 voltage c123 batteries and see if they work ?

The halo may have "gating" to protect it from higher voltage batteries, or maybe not. But if Halo says use c123 batteries then it would be wanting 3.0 voltage.

I use Titanium Innovations batteries from Battery Junction in most of my gear that will not take rechargeables. The TI batts are around 90 cents if bought in bulk they are 3.0 volts. I use rechargables "Tenergy" for all gear that will use rechargables, they are round 3.7 volts if I wait 24 hours after charging. I have 5 stages for the rechargeables: (1) In the gear being used (2) waiting to be charged (3) charging) (4) having been charged - waiting 24 hours (5) have completed 24 hours after charging now waiting to be loaded into gear

You need to call n-vision optics and report this data. The surefire and Panasonic should work also.

This will be my first thermal so I have no experience w/ thermals and batteries. Last week we took a Halo LR, removed the batteries and ran the unit straight off the USB battery pack. Question, for guys like you with a lot of experience, will you be using batteries often or will you be using a USB battery to run the LR? I was planning on using a USB battery pack, are there any disadvantages? Thanks

I don't use battery packs on rifles/carbines. I do use them on helmet mounted thermals. I just don't like the extra wires/weight on the guns. That's not to say there is anything wrong with them. I just don't use them on the guns because of the wires and weight. On the helmets, I use them as part of the counterweight. And I run step down cables with them, so I am producing 3.0v output regardless of the output of the USB. Step downs and keep alives, so I don't have to shake them to get them to powerup.

But regardless of battery packs, one way or the other, the Halos should run with batteries (unless they specifically say they do not). And if they run with TI batts, they should run with surefire and panasonic. So, engineering 101 says, in mindreader's case, either all the surefire and panasonic batteries were bad or there is something wrong with the halo. I would call them and pursue further, if it was my unit.

So, we are sitting on the edges of our chairs !! What was the result !!?? :D

Is the halo supposed to work with 3.0v batteries ?
3.7v batteries ?

None of the above?
All of the above?

:D

Don't know yet. Max can probably address it better but we are going to try a different battery cap first to see if that solves the issue. He mentioned it should work with all rcr or cr123s of the same length as the problem maybe a mechanical one. Here's all the batteries lined up side by side

@wigwamitus, clearly, we didn't have a chance to evaluate Mindreader1 HALO-LR closely, but HALOs and HALO-LR work with rechargeable batteries. It does not matter if they put out 3.0, 3.2, 3.7, or 4.2v. At this stage, I don't believe that Mindreader1 has an electrical problem related to the battery voltage. Most likely, this it's a question of the mechanical compatibility and that's why we are sending a different battery compartment cover to Mindreader1 to try. I'm not surprised that Nitecore batteries do not work. They are too long and way out of specs lengthwise. Olight batteries seem to have the regular length and we are still looking for the reason why they are not working. It is possible that their positive contacts don't stick out far enough to make a connection but this requires further investigation.

FYI, Surefire rebrands the Panasonic batts.. They're one and the same.

Thanks @Max_R ! Do you know of a rechargeable battery that does have the same length as a normal cr123? The olight and nitecore are the only ones I've used on battery junction. Everything else about the scope is dope! I think having a longer spring on the negative end of the cap might help as well - specifically with the olight.

Hey guys with a HALO in hand I have 2 questions if you don't mind please. Saw post on batts I use Titanium Innovations as well.....if you get a full burn on a set I'd love to know how many hours you get please. Also, since I use mine driving and scanning a ton how often are you having to NUC it while moving around? Thanks!

We don't have much experience with rechargeables and only used Tenergy (3.0V) and Garberiel (3.7V). Both work ok but it does not mean that I would recommend them. Not enough data. I don't think we've done any shooting with rechargeables so I can't comment on how they are holding on.

Do you know of a rechargeable battery that does have the same length as a normal cr123?

Haven't tried a full hunt with this yet. Hoping to do it this wknd. I would recommend getting an atlas to scan. It's a life changing experience looking thru a bino and with 3 batteries in that it lasts me about 3-4 hrs. That one has shuttered nuc tho so I don't have to close the lens cap whereas the halo requires a closed cap. I hate scanning with a rifle and my buddies appreciate me not pointing a gun at them when I do lol :)
