Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

I have two good practice loads for .45ACP. Both shoot point of aim point of impact at 15 yards, and only slightly lower then that at 25 yards, using my 4.5" barrel Colt Commander:

4.3 grains Clays, under 200 grain Rainier Round nose;
5.3 grains Bullseye under 200 grain Rainier Round Nose (a bit faster and louder than the Clays load).

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

The original GI load for the 45 ACP:

230gr. Sierra FMJ
4.9 grains of Bullseye
FC-150 Primer
FC Brass
1.270" OAL

Will shoot .75" groups CTC at 15 yards from my 5" Les Baer TRS.

147gr Load for the 9mm:

Win JHP
4.1grs WSF
FC-100
1.135" OAL

Super accuracy from Sig 9mm's. Hornady XTP shoots the same, but must be loaded to a shorter OAL in the 1.100" neighborhood. Hornady book max is 4.2 grains, so this is a safe load.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

http://www.alliantpowder.com/

9mm load as listed from manufacturer of powder

despite what anyone *cough*clark*cough* tells you this is max load, you should know not to start with max load.

min oal 1.12
barrel length 4
primer Win WSP
alliant Power Pistol
6.7 grains
1,280 fps
33,500 psi
9mm Luger 115 FMJ

OMFG they let clark post here?!

clark was right on the power pistol for 9mm, works great.

also had good luck with power pistol for 40 cal, but I felt safer with 800x.

44 MAG desert eagle 10" barrel
200 grain Hornady XTP
H110 or W296 @ 27.5 grains
WLP primer
OAL to mag length
1700+ (dont remember the exact vel)

very good accuracy (best group at 100 was 2 1/2 inches w/ scope sand bagged)

results on deer: In each case all bullets punched through both sides of the deer but not the hide on the opposite side. Made easy recovery of the bullet for weight and expansion study. So far all the bullets maintained 90%+ of there weight, and completely expanded. Damage to the vitals was extreme to say the least. Lungs and heart where simply gone... turned to jello, and had surprisingly little meat damage. Shots have been between 30 and 60 yards

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

Smith and Wesson 629 classic .44Mag 6.5" barrel

26.5 gr H110
Remmington 210gr JHP
Winchester LP magnum primers
Mixed brass, but mostly Winchester

Velocity is high, but loads still seem to be very accurate (plinking empty shotgun shells at 25yds) *if I can use the word plinking in the same sentence as .44mag*. The gun is new, so I haven't had much time at the range to give you an idea of group size.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

SA Loaded .45acp Government model 5}" barrel

1.26" OAL
200gr LSWC
Win primers
mixed brass
4.5gr WST (Winchester Super Target)

I use this load for NRA Bullseye and Falling Plate matches. This powder burns much cleaner than Unique.
The felt recoil is sharper than Unique. I don't know why but Unique's recoil feels more like a shove and the WST is sharper like a 9mm. It's still no problem.
This load is very very accurate in my pistol, in Dad's Kimber and SA Target. I have had 5 holes touching at 50 yards, single hand offhand- no rest. I wish I could do that every time.
BTW, my pistol isn't exactly stock so your accuracy may vary.
This load is not hot so should be safe in any quality 1911 .45acp.

It is the same as their AE in a pretty package.

Any 230gr FMJ on top of 5 grains of Bullseye with FC-150 will duplicate it.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

My IPSC loads
45 ACP
200gr Precision @ 1.250
5.1 WST Makes major with no problems, can shoot a couple thousand without cleaning, and has very little flash as an added bonus.
I also like this powder for 230 ball. In a low light shoot it has less flash than Federal Hydrashock.

40 S&W
180 Zero tmj @ 1.180"
4.6 VV-320
Makes major, very clean for thousands of rounds, and shoots soft.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

Kimber CDP .45 ACP w/ 3" barrel
Fed LP 150M Primers
4.6 gr. WST
230 gr. Berry round nose bullets

Anyone else try Berry bullets yet?

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

Both plinker loads for my .40 S&W Kimber Stainless II:

180gr Rainier PRN
Winchester brass
WSP primer
4.2gr Bullseye/4.4gr Universal Clays
1.125 COL

Full House Offense (screw the defensive s#!t) load for same pistol:

155gr Speer Gold Dot/155gr Hornady XTP
6.5gr Bullseye
Winchester brass
WSP primer
1.125 COL

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

.45 ACP Rock River Arms 5"
Win brass
Remington 185 Golden Sabre
Fed 150 primer
Win 231 at 5.3 GR

9MM Luger. Gun is Mac 10 F/A with Gemtech Viper 9 suppressor( very picky about the ammo, with wrong load/factory ammo it will not cycle at full auto rate)
Mixes brass
Hornady 147 GR
Fed 100 primer
Win 231 at 4 GR or Accurate # 7 at 6.5 GR. These loads stay sub-sonic and cycle the Mac 10 very well.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

.45 ACP
STI Trojan 1911 5" barrel (18.5# spring)
Serious Social load. Extremely accurate
255 gr Keith SWC
5.2 gr AA#2

.45 Long Colt
NM Blackhawk 7-1/2" barrel
Good hunting load, Extremely accurate, Moderate recoil
Starline Brass
270 gr Keith SWC
10.5 gr new Unique

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

These ain't practice loads...I've killed several deer with this load and it is my CCW load as well. I came up with this load to get 5 inch performance from my 4.25 in barrel.

45 acp...stout load...just shy of +P.

230 grain XTP bullet
Remington brass
CCI large pistol primers
7 grains of Power Pistol
1.23 OAL
830 fps chrono'd

Very accurate, stout but manageable recoil, I have seen this load penetrate 18 inches of deer (bones and all) from 30 yards.

My pistol is a Baer Stinger, 4.25 inch barrel 1911.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

.357 magnum - 6.2 gr. of bullseye with cast 150 gr. swc

.38 spl -3.0-3.2 gr. of bullseye with same bullet

i have loaded a few 9mms but can't remember the grs. of bullseye i used for them...........

LIFE IS SHORT.....

YMMV, start low and work up. I've chony these loads and also used QL also. The glock is a tad bit slow of projections and the Sig is spot on.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

125 gr. Hornady HAP
4.4 gr. Titegroup
1.090" COAL
WSP

1185 fps (XD 5" Tactical)
1180 fps (9mm AR-15, 16" bbl)

SD numbers in the low teens
Consistently groups under 2.5" (10 shots) at 100 yards in the AR, using a red dot sight.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

200 grain RN FMJ
5.2 grains Red Dot
1.24 OAL
SA XD 45 5" model
Safe, hotter than commercial Winchestor White Box. Very Accurate in my gun. I could probably bump the OAL out to 1.26 and increase powder by .3 grains and get more speed and same pressure, but it functions flawlessly so I'm leaving it

5.6 grains of Red Dot is damn near max because primers flatened

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

10mm Auto
Glock 20, OEM barrel (4.6" IIRC)
Starline Brass
COL = 1.262" (didn't feel the need to bump it back to 1.260)
200grn Hornady XTP
CCI LP mag primer
Mild Roll Crimp ~ .01"

2 powders

Ramshot Silohuette - 7.6grains
Max listed at 7.8 grains, backed off to 7.6 due to flat primers starting to flow into firing pin notch. Severely bellied brass at 7.8 grains. 7.6 shows mild belly with flat primers

No velocity

Blue Dot - 9.8 grains
10 grains bottoms standard recoil spring and bellies brass severely, backed to 9.8 grains with mild belly, no bottomed spring.

Very snappy load with 200 grain bullets.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Same loads fired from a G29 with OEM barrel

No differences noticed, loads were interchangable.

Re: Handgun Loads- ALL CALIBERS-

Here's a accurate self defense load:
Interarms Walther PPK/S .380 ACP
MagTech 85 gr JHP
3.7 gr Titegroup
.94" OAL
Federal Cases Once fired
Winchester SP Primers
