I was a huge fan boy of his when he was an Amateur and followed him alot. But this guy has completely spoiled "THEE" only possibility in our lifetime of ever seeing Nicklaus' record broke. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Nicklaus whatsoever and have watched him also for many many years growing up, but Tiger was the John Daly grip it n rip it kinda guy with skills so insane you couldn't believe what you were seeing. Fuzzy Zoeller was a true comic and big crowd pleaser, he was really fun to to follow on the course and he cracked on everyone. He cracked on tiger once and it was turned into a racial comment by tiger. He could have laughed it off and ended it but he turned it as a attack on Fuzzy.

Yep, that was some bullshit. I actually turned off of Tiger when he did that bullshit Nike commercial about not being allowed to join Augusta National because he was black. Forget the fact that most of the world's billionaires and celebrities would never even be considered for membership. You can't even apply for membership to that place (invitation only) and to this day they haven't allowed an official "course rating" by the USGA.

He was a phenomenally talented golfer, no denying it, but he was a whiny entitled bitch early on and continued his tantrums throughout his career. Toss a golf club on any reputable course and you may not be allowed to finish your round. He of course got a pass.

She must have cared some as when he came home with the stink finger she took a golf bat and used that to remove him from his car then gave him a Downtown Five Point Ass Whoopin.and probably used several bats as they bent, then sailed off into the sunset with BooCoo bucks. He didn't learn much from that.
Seems that he likes the blondes as he then hooked up with some Ho that is a slat rat and worked that for a while until she milked him for all she could get. Lindsey something or another.
I am glad I have the same Old Lady I started out with, blonde at that, and I never gave her a reason to come after me with a fuckin golf bat.

My man John Daly. His book was a pretty raw account of all the silly shit he'd done to ruin his career. I love seeing him back on the Tour. I also really enjoy some of the old classic footage where Gary Player, Arnold, Lee Trevino, etc are having a smoke on the course.

Same. I was a big fan of the "Grip It And Rip It" guy JD. Still am. Grew up liking the game and watching it. Didn't get serious about it till my tour in Florida, go figure. The ole Boys were a hoot to watch. Use to watch the up and coming guys in the PI on the Johnny Walker and Asian Tour. What a blast that was. One of my friends and golfing partner was a Pro "Dan Cruz" and his Father "Zushin Cruz" was my teaching Pro when I was off and on scratch. Long ass story I won't go into but I tried and was backed handsomely to 'make the cut' and go for my card when my factory shut down. Golf fed my family for 2 yrs and it was a blast. Been away from the game long enough now it doesn't bother me anymore. It was all consuming.

Now then, even tho he was still allegedly all pilled up, have another funny.

Opportunity of a lifetime, great story, wish I picked the game up earlier in life myself. My brother is still a scratch Golfer and also has a similar story, game caught him when he was 5 it never interested me at all until i tried it as part of business I was in.Then I got hooked at 38, free play at Doral and south Fla clubs twice a week for 15 years, never got below 8 handicap but enjoyed the hell out of the game until back surgery sidlined the clubs, I still hit the driving range every now and then and convince myself I am better than I am. Great story man.

Jerry I'll tell ya we parallel on this. I had no real interest to play seriously till I was 23/24 at Homestead AFB. A Spook buddy of mine at NSGA was a very good Golfer and got me tied into it. Like a bunch of us I don't go half assed, am competitive to a fault, and do pretty damn good at individual sports, like tiddlywinks. Played some awesome courses around the world when I was sailing. Then hang'n with dignitaries and heads of state and work'n for a Japanese Congressman got me into more than I bargained for. Salvador (Doy) Laurel, when he was the VP of the PI under Corey Aquino was a personal friend of my Wife's family. Golfing with him and others was not fun, but who sez no? Nobody. Behind every damn Palm Tree there would be 1 or 2 PNP and/or private security along with Military Personnel all over the damn place. The President came over for an event to Tokyo and Doy stayed over so there was an 'even't for him. I bought him a gold tie pin of a golf bag with a couple clubs in it. He wore that damn thing all the time. I'll have to find some pics before the "Bullshit" button gets punched. Anyhow, we had a blast in that other life.

Never made it to Doral, always wanted to do it. Pebble also. The game is dead to me now. Still have 4 or 5 sets of clubs I've been packing around, even after giving 2 or 3 sets away to friends kids and coaching them up. Back can't take it anymore after blowing it out on a handling here. Miss it? Ya. But it's all good. Enjoy your walk man, just don't spoil it.

Ok fucker, full disclosure. My Buddy "Dave" who got me hooked brought his Wife one day, little gal named Nee from Thailand. She was driving the cart. Golfing in Thailand is a trip, China too but for different reasons, in China everyone you play with is a millionaire of above the caddies are all women, actual great caddies that you have to have tag along, Thaland is more of a upper class game but still great.Man I think we have both lived good lives.

Oh there is no doubt. Didn't do the China thing, Hong Kong and Kowloon. Of course Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, PI, Jakarta, yada yada. Ya those umbrella and caddy girls with their little bonnets were great. Beer runners the whole nine yards. When you play a course so well groomed you stuff a divot in your bag you know you've made it. Fucking Monkey's stealing golf ball in Asia and Africa wft? I think they train the little bastards. So much fun though. When you have to hold a rope to pull you up a mountain (Subic) to the next tee box and you got a blind shot over the jungle canopy, you know, when the guy says over that big tree boss and you'll hit the fairway you can't see, ya, those are fucking epic courses. Some crazy ass shit there. There's a par 3 something like 170yds along the ocean in Puerto Azul in the PI where it reminded me of Pebble a bit. You would have to pound the ball out to sea and let it blow back in to the mainland somewhere in the vicinity of the green. Was sketchy as hell and hard to take serious. Many drinks were won and lost on that hole alone.

Buddy, I'm sure you realize how fortunate you are that actually gave it a shot. One of my best friends on the PD back in the 90's was an absolutely phenomenal golfer who had really considered PGA College rather than the traditional career path but his folks dissuaded him. At least once a week while working some ridiculous call he would be screaming that he should be playing for his Card instead of dealing with whatever stupid bullshit we were on. From what I understand he's now an even better golfer in his late 40's and has his eye on a Senior card. I hope he's finally able to try for his dream. Similarly, my old man had the chance to turn pro as a bowler and/or go for his PGA card but life got in his way. Regrets late in life are a bitch.

I should've played when I was overseas but just couldn't justify the money for my skill level. Paying $300 to shoot triple digits in tropical heat just seemed silly to me. However, I did love looking at some of those courses. Pretty much anywhere in the world, a golf course is going to be some of the prettiest ground you'll see. In the Middle East it may be the only grass for hundreds of miles.

I still enjoy walking my local courses alone in the afternoon and carrying my bag. It's too hot for most folks and I can zone out and force my back to do some things it should rightfully refuse to do. I also get a bit of an ego boost when I shoulder up my bag and head out while guys half my age are piling into a cart.

Golf is one of the only things in life that I can still enjoy despite being shitty at it.

One of my best friends on the PD back in the 90's was an absolutely phenomenal golfer who had really considered PGA College rather than the traditional career path but his folks dissuaded him. At least once a week while working some ridiculous call he would be screaming that he should be playing for his Card instead of dealing with whatever stupid bullshit we were on. From what I understand he's now an even better golfer in his late 40's and has his eye on a Senior card. I hope he's finally able to try for his dream. If you're going to pay the money, might as well take as many strokes as you can. Compared to a scratch golfer, a double bogey golfer gets ~50% more game for his money.
