Hello all,

After reading more about my LMT, I realize I may have an issue upon my hands. I have purchased an LMT model MWS308 CL 16" - the caveat being the lower receiver also says 7.62x51 and the actual barrell itself has 7.62x51 NATO written on it. I have put about 20-30 .308 175gr rounds through it (it is a brand new rifle)... Have I damaged my rifle???!

I am under the impression that the 308 is a much higher pressure round and thus would cause the damage. Please advise!!
Thank you!

Dear Valued Member,

Relax, shoot all the factory 308 ammo in your rifle as your heart desires. There is nothing to worry about. Since it's not 1968 what you read about the differences no longer applies. You can shoot 223 ammo in a 5.56 and vice versa, as well you can shoot any mix of 7.62x51 in your 308.

I agree no damage to your beast.

Just curious are your 175 loadings factory? I was shooting some factory loaded Nosler Custom Competition 175 match ammo in my MWS and had 3-4 blown primers out of 10-15 shots. Not a big deal, but Im not shooting that load anymore, surprised me that it happened especially when running a heavy rifle buffer. The ammo is rated at 2600 fps or so but Im thinking its a little hotter.
