The only thing I currently have is a universal adapter to mount my monocular behind a day optic but performance does suffer.

So what would be my next "best" purchase and why?

I will also have to purchase an IR laser or NV compatible sight as well.

Thanks,

Paul

Uni-Adapters/PVS-14's can suffer behind day scopes and 6x or lower magnification is usually what is optimal.

Using a monocular behind a EO Tech or Aimpoint with a 3x magnifier onto your PVS-14 is also a great way to shoot with some magnification. The EO Tech wins out with better FOV's in this NV scenario. We have a great and lighting fast QD NV mount we use with the Aimpoint Twist base seen here. http://www.tnvc.com/shop/tnvc-tm14-pvs-14-weapon-mount/ We killed 2 birds with one stone here for folks who want to use the Aimpoint 3X magnifier, they still can with the same base.

Without magnification and putting your PVS-14 on your head while using a IR laser such as the new DBAL Class 1's http://www.tnvc.com/shop/ldi-dbal-i2-class-1-ir-laser/ is also a great way to shoot with your head up and let your laser do all the talking. These new Class 1 also come in single aiming lasers as well with the OTAL/ITAL line of C1 LDI lasers.

As for RDS's, just insure the red dot sight is NV compatible like many of the Aimpoints seen here. http://www.tnvc.com/shop/category/weapon-optics/

Also, there is a multitude of helmet mounts out there that can make your head spin. Wilcox and Norotos are some of the best. http://www.tnvc.com/shop/category/helmet-mounts/

Hope this helps and give me a PM if I can assist further.

Re: Head mount or weapon mount?

I prefer head mount to weapon mount. If you want to look around with a weapon mount, it means your sweeping everything with the muzzle as you go. You don't know if you are going to accidentally flag someone or something you don't want to because it's dark and you can't tell what is where until it's too late. Also, weapons get heavy when you have to hold them up all the time to see where you are going. Head mount allows you to swivel around more easily for better situational awareness. Add an IR laser to your weapon and you don't need the sight anyhow!
