I have been a member of rimfire central since october of 2011. i have only 207 posts there. lately i have watched it being over moderated by the admin. the final straw was when she said something like " Be on notice that any and all such posts will be deleted without warning or further notice even if it is just for how a thing is said rather than what is said. " this struck me as WHATTTTTT? so now some blohard that prolly never had a real job is telling thousands of people they will be punished for the way they say things. i started thinking THOUGHT POLICE. so i found this place and joined to flee adolph hitler centeral. looking forward to it.

Welcome to the Hide. There is a solid RF community here, obviously focused more on the "tactical" side, i.e. shooting steel from various positions as opposed to shooting groups on paper from a bench or prone, which is the RFC focus.
That said, I am a member over at RFC - with very few posts, so call me a lurker - and what I hate about RFC is that most of the time over there, when a member posts a question, most of the responses are from "senior members" to the effect that "Well, I can't answer your question, but from my extensive experience doing the same thing over and over, you ought to consider this, or that, or some such...." - totally lame and non-responsive answers by and large, IMO.

I've been a member of RFC since 2007 and find that a bunch of what goes on they for (thought police) happens about the same time every year. Think it has a lot to due with spending too much time behind the computer instead of the rifle. I don't post much , but have been very good at ignoring the bickering that happens over there. There are a lot of very wise people over there that have a ton of knowledge and can be very helpful, just like here. Just need to know when to step back and ignore some rants.
Same on every forum I ever used. The Old Guard is ever vigilant in protecting "their" domain. There is a ton of really good information and nearly an equal amount of BS. Comes with humanity. I try to read as much as I can to eliminate the need for a question then turn it loose if I have to. The responses or lack thereof determine how long I will play in any playground. There are others.

LMAO, I’m a member of RFC, and I know of Sophia. Yes, she can be a pain in the ass sometimes, although personally, I’ve never had any trouble with her. Been a while since I’ve been over there. Sounds like it’s gotten fun. 
i lurk over there as well. being new to the game, i try to soak up as much knowledge as i can. i found initially there was lot of knowledge to be had about many different things. then i started seeing the trend of what APPEARED to be grump old men not liking the direction rimfire is heading. appears to be many old school blued steel and walnut types over there shooting off a bench trying to get a bug hole or out walking the woods hunting critters. by no means is there anything wrong with that. i say to each his own.
but lately the hate in the CZ forum for the 457 really turned me off. it was getting personal. i understand the purpose of a good rib every now and then but to make attacks personal was my tipping point.

SH is comprised of people. People bring different perspectives, humility quotients and experience levels. At times that mix will result in injured pride and at other times some good ol’ well deserved butt whoopin’s.
Although I opine on occasion (sometimes without value) I usually sit back and take in the amazing wealth of knowledge and experience that comprises the essence of this Forum.
Your primary complaint seems to be towards the admin of RFC and it’s loyal attendants.
That is not an issue here, in my opinion. Frank runs a tight, but reasonable ship along with good dedicated mods...it is after all a “forum” which by essence is based upon varied, if not dissenting opinion with the goal of sharpening the tip of the spear.
I know I am a better rifleman because of this forum and hope that you will find so for yourself as well.

The FUDD factor is extremely high at RFC, they generally feel that if it isnt walnut and blued steel it isnt worth being on RFC. However, there is ton of knowledge also there, you just have to be judicious in how you ask for it if it isnt all ready posted. Try posting about modern items like chassis or a scope that cost more than $350 with modern features and a tube diameter over 1" and you'll about be run out of town with tar and pitchforks it seems.
RFC is a lot like dealing with an old folks home or Furr's cafeteria, it definitely caters to certain crowd that is set in it's ways.

Hey! I resemble that remark! I grew up admiring "the old guys" who could shoot a gnat's ass off a critter at 50yds - guys like my grandfather who was born in 1895, and a retired rancher who sold me all the tools I needed to start reloading, who was born a year earlier in 1894. I got a kick out of watching Dad, uncles, great uncle, & grandpa shoot at 22RF cases sitting on a tree stump with their ,22s after family dinners. Rifles back then were Win M61 pumps & Marlin 39A or Mounties. And when I got into XC HP shooting, I started out with a SA M1A - parkerized steel & walnut. Didn't take long to move on to AR15s, and to bolt rifles with fiberglas prone stocks when I got into Palma & LR prone. So now, there's several PRS-style rifles in Manners composite stocks, along with a selection of 40X & V-22 repeaters also in Manners stocks, all with ffp mil/mil tactical scopes. But there's also a few walnut stocked sporters in the mix - although I don't really care for chassis stocks. So I have no issue listening to the 'old guys', since at 67, I am one. Just happy as hell to have both the Hide & RFC where I can ask questions & share experiences.
I'm with you Dennis just not blessed with quite so many toys. More than a few could take heed of your ability to express the events in a life without cursing or threatening anyone. Seems to be a lost art. May you have many more range days my friend.

Yea but you are not a FUDD, your very existence here and ability to listen to others and accept new factual information demonstrates that. You may or may not like it but you are not condemning other ppl/ideas if you dont like it.
Locked in dogma without supporting data gets shot down pretty quick over here, that isnt the case over there in a few threads. If you have a dissenting opinion to the majority with fact driven data to support it, your entire post might disappear because it hurt someone's feelings. I've seen 4 or 5 posts supporting an unpopular idea just vanish more than once at RFC.
Like I said, RFC has some very good and hard to find information available for free, the lobby is just very high in the FUDD factor for the high count posters and administration. I've been called judgemental and condescending just for pointing out company's written/internet published policies. So you have to decide what info you want and take it with a grain of salt as an unpopular truth may or may not survive there.

I post in the Long-range section and occasionally other threads on Rimfire Central but I'm mostly ignored since I'm not a close up paper puncher. I like trying things out of the ordinary and usually post videos to back up things I post about so that usually leaves little to argue about or dispute.
Lots of good info there if you sort thru it, same as here and all the other sites. I've never had any problems with her but never had any conversations except for way back asking her to add a section for us long-range shooters.

Well, maybe I've just had one of my posts deleted over on RFC's CZ/BRNO forum? I mentioned going with a Krieger bbl blank on my new CZ457 American, since I hadn't been completely pleased with the accuracy out of the factory bbl. Have been looking for my post in all the threads I could recall posting in, and haven't found it? Hey - remember me confessing to being 67yrs old? - maybe I just forgot where I put that post....I mean, it could've happened.
Whatever, after getting the American's trigger adjusted down to 1.4lbs and torquing the action screws to 30/25 in/lbs, and shooting in slightly warmer temps yesterday (48*F), the rifle was showing some decent results with SK Std+ & Pistol Match out to 129yds. It'd be kind of crazy to give up on a new factory bbl with only 205rds through it. And I was just notified by BSCar that he's got a few more of his 25 MOA rails for the 457 available, so ordered two of them. That'll allow me to mount an Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 on the American, and to put the Mike Ross 12 MOA rail back on the Anschutz 2011 where it belongs... I'm still interested in getting a 457 Varmint MTR, and that's where the 2nd BSCar rail will go - if & when one of the wholesalers where I've listed a MTR on my 'wish list' gets some more of them in stock.

Just recently joined over there, so not familiar with any of this. Don't spend that much time on line in RFC. The couple of times I have asked questions, I got pretty decent answers. In my experience, every forum, Facebook page, or whatever, has some bad apples. Unfortunate to hear one may be a moderator, but good to know.
I never had any issues with RFC. Yes they are mostly older and like the fine old school quality rifles and would much rather discuss a 1958 Anschutz 54 Super match with its old world quality and old school Unertl target optic with its fine walnut stock and incredible glass than get into a review of your new Vudoo with a Kahles optic and a sparrow suppressor with its aluminum and carbon fiber chassis, etc. Even though to two are close to the best out of the box rifles I have ever seen. RFC has a ton of info and was a great help to me when I got the hots to buy a Vostok CM-2 target rifle from Russia. Another fine old accurate rifle that was built like a club.
RFC has the best of the best with regards to action,barrel and accuracy knowledge so they don't tolerate ignorant posts very well.
When you have a group like that they will often times go on one of the forums dealing with factory type rifles and post some non flattering responses.
Start a thread about barrel indexing or stopped muzzles about every two months and Sophie will stay very busy.
