I seem to read a lot and post little. This being my first post please be gentle.

I currently own a Sig srd762 qd. I wanted to expand the platforms in which I can use that can and decided to pick up a .308 bolt action. I don’t have one and all my shooting has been maxed at 100 yards so far. I don’t have any gun that meets the loner range / precision role beyond my current .223.

In my head I chose .308 as I was trying to keep with normal easily available rounds. I began researching what I should get and got into trouble. I can’t do a search about .308 without seeing 6.5 Creedmoor. Maybe I should go that route? The only piece of equipment I want to bring to this set up is the suppressor.

I have almost pulled the trigger on a RPR in .308 a couple of times....but not quite.

So I am looking for advice from you. What build will fill my role and use my sig srd762 qd?

I look forward to any and all comments.

I'll bite. The 308 will get you longer barrel life but more recoil, and the 6.5 shorter barrel life but lighter recoil.
Is the 308 a heavy recoiling round, no, but 6.5 is more enjoyable. I think today 6.5 CM is just as easy to find as 308 and prices are just as good. Especially when you look at Hornady American Gunner.

If my farthest distance is 100 yards, I would go 308. Your can will work just fine on either caliber.
