Help kestrel experts

I have a kestrel 4k of I’ve hand for about 4 years now bought new from kestrel.

It’s also kept i. It’s soft case when not in use.

I noticed the sensor on the back that is covered with a white cover now has a hole in it. I know this sounds dumb but is that something that just occurs with exposure to the environment. No one else has used this kestrel and nothing had been stuck into the sensor opening.

Will this effect it’s accuracy

What would cause this? Like I said nothing has been stuck in there that would have damaged it. I emailed customer service at kestrel.

Hard to tell, this is pretty rare as the coating is very durable.

Ok I’ll see what customer support says when the email me back. Like I said I have done nothing that would cause this so it’s sound like a warranty issue.
