hey im sure this has been asked before but i couldnt find it.i have a sps tac that i want to duracoat the barrel and the receiver. i dont want to coat the bolt. my qeustion is really what is needed to be taped off. will it hurt the action if i spray some in the action? i know none in the barrel and none in the chamber. so how much of the metal parts do you guys paint? so any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: help please new to duracoat

I taped off the bottom of the reciever and the screw holes after removing the trigger. That is to keep paint off off the portion that is sitting on the aluminum bedding system in my bell and carson stock. Stuff the bolt raceway with paper towels. I put tape on top of the paper towel at the loading port to level it to the edges of the reciever. Once satisfied paint away. Put on several coats of paint taking a 5 to 10 min break in between. Ive only painted one so far and it turned out great. I didnt use the cheap airbrush. I used a small touch up HVLP spray gun from Lowes.
