Ok guys not sure if this is in the right spot but here it goes. I moved awhile back(6-8 months ago) my wife's car had broken down while I was at work and she was finishing moving some of the little stuff. Her car ended up at a personal friend of hers house that happens to be a judge. Well over a month and a half or so this woman would not call us back or let us get to my wife's car. We called the local PD not knowing what else to do. They go out and take everything out of the car as the trunk was loaded with firearms. They told her that they had to turn them over to the local ATF office (protocol I guess). This is where the shit starts. I've been calling fifteen times a damn week trying to get my shit back with no luck. Never pick up the phones and if they do,they will not show up at set times to meet for the return of my weapons. What the hell do I do?

Did you even get the car back? I agree with the others-time for a lawyer. You need to provide a list of the items with photographic proof if possible. I now take pics of all my guns showing serial numbers and everything in case they are stolen or lost in a fire etc. I keep the pics on numerous memory sticks in seperate locations.

It's been a whole lot of nothing. Nobody knows anything and the lawyer and judge that we know set up meetings with them but,you guessed it every single time it's the same ol story. They have emergencies or can't meet. Beginning to think every bastard in this town is crooked. Don't honestly think ill ever see these again. Had hk45,glock20,m1a socom, savage max-1 ph in 204 ruger,300blk,scopes and a lot of ammo. All brand new never fired so I'm sure somebody is having fun with it

^^^^^^^^^^ This, have three copies, at least one in a safe deposit or somewhere offsite and "secured". On topic though it sucks that happened to you. I would advise you to lawyer up as well.

Similar thing happened to my son. He tried for a year to get them back. Even the Lawyer had no luck. He gave up on ever seeing them again. Then one day about two years after they were taken he gets a letter telling him he had 14 days to pick up his firearms or they would be destroyed. He could not believe it but he went and they gave him everything.

How the hell does that happen?

And just why would a JUDGE feel she had the power to just impound other people's property on a whim? Guess the wife and judge are no longer friends. And if you had any way to prove the stuff belonged to you, why would the local PD "have" to turn them in to ATF? I'm assuming this all happened while you were offshore or in a distant location since your name implies you work in the oilfield. There's got to be more to this story IMO.

They are no longer friends no. I don't understand half of it myself. Also yes most of it took place while I was gone to work. Called the office in Austin today and they said they will get ahold of the jackass in Lubbock and give me a ring

Your wife may be closer to jumping off than you know, perhaps she and her friend have conspired to keep some of the property (joint) from leaving the state, I don't mean any offence, I'm just saying....
