Yes , the GovT is at the moment a left wing type , like your Dems , our prime minister just said , Ban them all , no thought or tolerance to law abiding owners at all , and no idea she was givng away some peoples Freedom ( and this before she knew the causes ) , the left donot recognise Freedom or realise how truelly important it is for all people .They are arrognant and think they always know instinctively what is BEST , and they have never frought for it and have had Freedom handed to them , like a in-hertinance .
Actually funny thing , is the legal beagles , said Whoa , you cant just take peoples stuff , thats not right , YOU have to pay for IT , they actually thought they could Ban & seize stuff at NO cost to the GovT , so when they where told that , they estimated it would be 100-200 Million tops , Opps someones NOT good at Maths , actual non-GovT estimates are 1-2 Billion , and we all know estimates are usually lower than reality .
In reguards to how the Aussie got a firearms licence , seems he slipped thru the gaps , the normal vetting was not done right , a arms officer talks to YOU , and 2 refe;s , one related , one not , and they interview at home & check the safe etc , also you get run thru the Police computer to see if you have a criminal history , and based on that they issue or decline the firearms licence .
He had no family/relation in NZ , they used 2 friends , that knew him just thru internet chat rooms , and they phoned them & did not meet them , & instead of interview at home , he changed it to , at work , all these things should have raised alarm bells . Also you need to know that the actual number of firearm officers where being cut to almost nothing/sacked , and a centerilised vetting being brought it at the time .
What I have just said above is from a former Policeman , head of firearms , and you will NOT hear it or see IT in mainstream news EVER , as it does not FIT with thier fairy dust utopia view of the World .
Over 250,000 law abiding gun owners have been sold done the creek , on the alter of pretend safety & fixing the problem , instead of admitting the main reason it happened is because a bad guy did IT , and Police did not Vet him correctly according to thier SOP etc .
This will cost our small poor country money we donot really have , and it will be 1-2 Billion & more on going .
Whats particularly galling is , when they changed the law , they said donot go out and have a last shoot , as even thats illegal now , its for public safety , at 6pm on the day of the incident ( happening 1-2pm approx ) , they Police did not lower the security status , knowing that the threat was over , and there was no others ( terrorist group/people ) and that he was lone shooter .
So that high alert status is still in effect , 6 weeks after shooting , in NZ Police have access to guns , But as a general rule donot carry , and if they do its to a actual callout , this is for our safety , Yeah its NOT , their is NO threat past 6pm , 15th March .
This is over compensation , knee gerk ,But its much worse than that , as IF the GovT / Police & intelligance agency seriously think we are at risk , IT shows just how wrong & incompitent they truelly are .
Not letting the guys go out and a last final shoot , shows there vinditive nature towards shooters , we have been Demonised in the press , all the while WE did noting wrong , I think we shooters have been surprised at the lack or others standing up for us , the buy back is not because the Legal beagles value freedom & fairness , its just a point of property Law to them nothing else .
Sorry for the rant , you will understand we shooters feel we are being punished for the actions of another .
